Â
THE DEFENSE DOESN'T REST
Lubbock Christian notched their third shutout of the season in their win against the Hilltoppers. They also shut out Adams State and Sul Ross. All three of their shutouts have come at home. Chap opponents are averaging 1.33 goals per game through the first nine contests of the year. LCU's defense has allowed 11.7 shots per game from competitors and 44.8 percent of those have been on goal.
Max Moorahrend has anchored the back line from the center back position, ranking second on the team with 698Â minutes played.
Â
KEEPING UP WITH THE CHAPS
Junior
Milo Paci has handled the majority of the time in goal for the Chaps, playing a big part in LCU's goals against average of 1.33. The Frenchman has faced 93 shots, making 29 saves with a .707 save percentage so far this year, playing at least part of the game in all three LCU shutouts this year. Paci was removed from Saturday's game at halftime though and replaced by
Arath Valdez. A JUCO transfer, Valdez made seven saves in his 45 minutes in goal on 14 shots faced. Valdez started his collegiate career at Dallas College Richland.
Â
DO YOU REMEMBER
The Chaparrals in September went 3-3-1 overall with wins against Newman, Sul Ross and St. Edward's. LCU out-scored its opponents 12-10 for the month, despite being out-shot 13.6 per game to 12.3 per game. Two of the games in the month were played against nationally-ranked opponents, including a tie against No. 24 Fort Hays State. Leading the offense for the month was midfielder/forward
Alex Lachevre, who lead the team with seven points on three goals and an assist.
Â
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
After scoring twice against St. Edward's, the Chaps now have a scoring average of 1.667 in 2026, which is the fourth-best mark in the LSC. They have only been shut out once, and that was in a game where they played with only 10 men for 80 minutes. LCU is averaging 13.6 shots per game and has put 42.6 percent of those on goal. Eight different players have found the back of the net so far this year, including four players with at least two goals. LaChevre,
Augusto Militao and
Joao Catafesta are tied for the team lead in assists with two apiece. Robinson is currently fifth in the LSC in shots with 20 and has scored once.
Â
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Lubbock Christian lost a lot from their 2025 LSC runner-up team, which means the 2026 edition of the Chaps have been relying on a number of newcomers. Of the five LCU players who have started all eight games so far this year, three – goalkeeper
Milo Paci, defender
Max Moorahrend and midfielder
Alex Lachevre – are brand new to LCU. The Chaparral leader in shots with 20 – forward
Oli Robinson – is also new, and the Chaps have also relied heavily on newcomers
Finn Wijnen,
Tom Unwin and
Jackson Preece.
