This year's incoming class includes
Emily Hanaway,
Cory Jo Martin and
Maddie Reed. The trio of Texans is the first group eligible to compete in the NCAA postseason for the entirety of their LCU volleyball career.
Emily HanawayMajor: Biology
Why you chose to attend LCU: Well of course for volleyball, but also because of the Christian community and the strong science department.
Organizations involved with on or off-campus: Raider Church and I recently received a bid for the social club Kappa.
Plans after LCU: I've thought about playing sand volleyball for a couple of years but if that doesn't work out I plan to go to Physicians Assistant school to specialize in orthopedics.
Role model: I have two:
My Grammie because she was one of those people that always made you feel like the favorite, and she just loved people. She was a Godly woman who accepted everyone the way they were. And she was so poised and graceful.
Malori Maddox – Wow, I so want to be like her. God's love just radiates out of her. She makes everyone feel so important and loved. My day is always made when I talk to Mal - I mean how could it not be? She's a ball of sunshine. She does everything wholeheartedly and works so hard. She lives the definition of a God-centered life and I hope that I can be that awesome one day.
Favorite athlete: April Ross, because she plays wholeheartedly for the Lord.
Favorite movie: "White Christmas" - Who doesn't love the most classic Christmas movie ever?
Favorite TV show: "Grey's Anatomy" - it makes my obsession over medical jargon seem not so nerdy.
Favorite song: "Broken Vessels" by Hillsong Worship
Favorite restaurant: Elizabeth Street Café - they serve pho and it's in Austin!
Favorite athletic team(s): The Spurs - they truly play as a team.
Favorite book: "The Fault in Our Stars" - I read it in a day.
What would you do if you were given one million dollars? Open up a hospital in a rural area and then work there after I graduate.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Patagonia - I think there's something powerful about being in the mountains.
If you could master one skill you don't have right now, what would it be? I really want to relearn how to tumble.
What was your dream job growing up? Being a Doctor
What would be your perfect day? Out on the lake in Maine with my family, paddle boarding and kayaking all day, and then sitting by the fire and telling stories.
How do you want to be remembered? I want to be remembered as that girl who's always laughing and who's really living for God, and someone who makes others feel loved.
