LADY CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals close out their season opening weekend Saturday hosting Eastern New Mexico at 3 p.m. at LCU Soccer Field.
• LCU is 1-0-0 on the season following a 7-1 win Thursday over University of the Southwest.
• The Lady Chaps are 1-0-0 at home this season and 17-6-2 all-time in home games under head coach
Alex Denning.
STORY LINES• The Lady Chaparrals improved to 5-0-1 all-time in season and home openers with their win Thursday (all have been against USW).
•
Brooke Wendl, who led LCU at home last season with 18 points off six goals and six assists. Opened up this season with a program single game record four-goal performance. The four goals tied a Heartland Conference single-game record as well. The goals led to eight points, which ranks tied for second for points in a single game by a Heartland Conference member. It was her second eight-point game of her career and her prior game of eight points came in the 2014 season opener against Southwest ironically.
• More career numbers on Wendl: Closes her career with 10 goals scored in four season openers, scoring in all four opening games played in.. Her four goals gives her 41 career goals.. The eight points eclipsed the 100-point mark in her career and she now has 106 career points... She was credited with her 14th career game winning goal.
• The Lady Chaps also witnessed goals by
Jamie Pugh and
Kate O'Gara in their win Thursday. Pugh's was her first of her career and O'Gara notched her second career goal.
• LCU out-shot USW 17-1 in shots on goal in the game, with Wendl leading LCU with six shots on goal. Eight different Lady Chaps had at least one shot on goal.
• LCU has nine different players on their current roster that have claimed All-Heartland Conference honors.

SCOUTING ENMU• The Greyhounds (formerly the Zias) opened their season 0-1-0 Thursday in Bethany, Okla. falling 1-0 to Southern Nazarene despite a 12-8 advantage in shots.
• ENMU went 9-8 last season and 6-4 in the Lone Star Conference. They were 3-4 on the road.
• Their loss Thursday was their ninth consecutive season opening loss. They have not won an opener since 2006.
• The Lone Star Conference has the Greyhounds picked fourth in the preseason polls.
SERIES HISTORY WITH ENMU• The all-time series between the two squads is tied at 1-1-0.
• The home team has won each of the prior two meetings.
• Eastern N.M. won the prior meeting 2-1 on Oct. 3, 2013 and LCU won 1-0 (Sept. 18, 2010) in the only prior game played at LCU Soccer Field between the two teams.
