The season-opening three-game series between Lubbock Christian University and Adams State University resumes with the middle game of the series Friday at 3 p.m. from Hays Field.
 
LCU improved to 10-3 in season openers under head coach Nathan Blackwood Thursday with a season opening 12-7 win over Adams State Thursday. The Grizzlies led 5-0 with a five-run second inning, but LCU rebounded and rallied with a seven-run bottom of the seventh inning en route to the win.
 
Lubbock Christian had 11 different batters in the game and all 11 had at least a hit. Brandon Rix led all players with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Rousseau and Brandon Urquizo each went 2-for-4. LCU out-hit Adams State 16-7. Michael Downs led ASU with a 2-for-4 performance and was the only Grizzlies batter with a multi-hit game. Chris Morley had three RBI in the loss for ASU.
 
Neither starting pitcher was recorded with a decision Thursday. ASU's Bailey Garcia went the opening five innings and allowed three runs off seven hits, while LCU's Russell Reber went 5.2 innings and allowed seven runs off six hits. Glen Warrick claimed the win (1-0) by allowing one hit over the final 3.1 innings of the game. Josh Keaton allowed five runs in 1.2 innings of relief and was tagged with the loss (0-1).
 
The Chaparrals have won five straight games in the all-time series. The series concludes Saturday at Hays Field.
