LCU Seeks Tournament Berth Saturday in Regular Season Finale

Lady Chaps Can Clinch a Heartland Conference Tournamet Bid With Win

AUSTIN, Texas (November 4, 2017) – Lubbock Christian University plays their final regular season match and they hope it won't be their last match of the season, as they head to St. Edward's University for a noon opening serve. With a win, LCU can claim a Heartland Conference Tournament berth and secure the No.3 seed in the tournament. A loss Saturday does not eliminate the Lady Chaps for a postseason tournament, but they would have to rely on the possibility of a tiebreaker-scenario, along with awaiting the outcome of remaining games, as LCU is not the only team playing their final regular season match Saturday due to the odd number of conference members. LCU, 9-16 overall, enters the match in third place in the conference with a 6-5 conference record. St. Edwards is in fourth place with a 5-5 record and Dallas Baptist is 5-6 in the Heartland. Each conference team plays 12 conference matches and DBU and SEU play each other for their final match of the season. Newman is also a longshot that could join the fray, as they are 4-6 with two conference matches remaining.
