Lady Chaparrals On The Hunt For Conference Win

LADY CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
- Lubbock Christian University's women's soccer team will look to end a two-game skid in a matchup against Newman University Saturday, Sept. 15th. The squads are set for a noon start time at LCU Soccer Field.
- Hailey Phipps, Makenna Pate and Gabby Gomez have found their way into the scoring column for LCU with one goal apiece.
- Hannah Wise has pieced together impressive feats throughout the first five contests compiling 3.75 saves per game.
 
 
STORY LINES
- Lubbock Christian has averaged 18 shots per game after adding 12 in their previous contest against Rogers State University.
- Saturday's match marks the fourth home game of the season for the Lady Chaparral squad.
- Though they were held scoreless against Roger State, LCU's three goals this season have come in home contests.
- Opposing defenses have been kept on their heels throughout the beginning of the season as Lubbock Christian has out-earned their opponents in the corner kicks category by a 29-21 margin.
- Wise has played and started in every game for the Lady Chaparrals making her way to fourth in the nation for minutes played (531:48)
 
SCOUTING NU
- Newman forward Colleen Howland stands first in the nation, tied with six other NCAA Division II players, with three game-winning goals.
- Dayna Johnson leads the country with five assists to her name through five games.
- The Jets have successfully found the net on the offensive end scoring 17 goals.
- Howland and Vanessa Ortiz enter the match leading the NU roster with five goals each.
- Jackie Lari has made her name as the starting goalkeeper for the Jets. Lari has allowed three goals in her five starts while making 13 saves for a .813 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH NU
LCU stands 4-3-0 all-time against Newman dating back to the 2013 season. The three Lubbock Christian losses have come in the past three meetings between the programs. The Lady Chaps last victory over the Jets came in a 1-0 result at LCU Soccer Field (Sept. 29, 2016).
