ODESSA, Texas (October 30, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University plays a pivotal game in the Lone Star Conference volleyball standings Saturday at Falcon Dome, as LCU faces University of Texas of the Permian Basin. The match is a battle between two programs fighting to secure one of the top four spots in the standings, which receive an opening round bye in the 12-team LSC Championships (tournament).

- The Lady Chaps and Falcons first squared off in 1995 and have met 48 times since, with LCU owning a 39-9 series advantage over the Falcons. LCU had won 15 consecutive matches prior to 2019, but UTPB has won five of the last six meetings, including a head-to-head record of 3-1 last season. LCU is 18-4 all-time in Odessa in the series, with the two teams splitting a two-game conference series last season in Odessa. This meeting will mark their seventh LSC meeting (UTPB is 5-1 in the series with both teams being LSC members). The two programs were former Heartland Conference foes and LCU was 6-0 all-time in Heartland action against the Falcons.
- UTPB went 5-10 last season, going 3-9 in LSC play. They qualified for the LSC Championships, where they defeated St. Edward's in the opening round. They are preseason picked 10th this season in the LSC.
- UT Permian Basin is 14-6 this season and are 9-3 in LSC play following a 3-1 home loss Thursday to Angelo State. The loss was the Falcons first home loss of the season, placing them with a 5-1 mark at home.
- UTPB has the nation's third-best attacks per set rate, with 40.48 attacks per set. Individually, Aquincia Strambler leads UTPB and is seventh in the LSC with 9.04 attacks per set (Strambler's 3.6 kills per set ranks sixth in the LSC).
- The Falcons enters the week leading the LSC in digs and is ranked 15
th nationally with a per set rate of 18.4 digs per set. They recorded 93 digs Thursday to bump up their mark to 18.7 digs per set. Daylee Doggett leads the Falcons with 4.71 digs per set, which ranks sixth.
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU opened conference play with their best conference start since 2018 (6-0 start) and enter Saturday's play 15-6 overall and 10-2 in conference, which has them in fourth place in the LSC (UT Permian Basin sits in fifth place). The Lady Chaps defeated Western New Mexico Thursday 3-0 to clinch one of 12 berths to the LSC Championships. LCU, in their third season in the LSC, last qualified in 2019.
- Of the Lady Chaps six losses on the season, four are against nationally ranked programs.

Jalee Sims has provided 9.14 assists per set in LSC contests. Froeschl co-leads the LSC in blocks in conference matches, with a mark of 51 (second in blocks per set at 1.21). LCU leads the LSC in conference matches, averaging 2.43 blocks per set.
- Lubbock Christian is 8-1 in road matches this season, hitting .213 and holding the home teams to a .169 mark in attack percentage.
Hannah Froeschl is hitting .312 with 2.66 kills per set on the road.
