SAN ANGELO, Texas (October 6, 2021) – Two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in Lone Star Conference play meet Wednesday in Junell Center, as Lubbock Christian University and No.3 Angelo State each put a 6-0 conference record to the test in a mid-week LSC clash.

- LCU and Angelo State are meeting for the 31st time all-time and meeting for a seventh time as conference foes (LCU is 1-5 against the Belles as LSC opponents). Angelo State defeated LCU 3-0 on Mar. 3 in San Angelo, Texas, their previous meeting, which increased ASU's all-time series record to 21-9 against LCU. Despite the ASU series advantage (they had a nine-match win streak from 1980 to 1986 and swept all four games last season), LCU has won seven of the past 13 meetings. Fifteen (15) meetings have been played in San Angelo, where LCU is 5-10 (LCU has won five of the last eight in San Angelo).
- ASU, who went 16-2 last season (going 10-2 in LSC play), had their season end with a AVCA Division II Tournament Championship. This season, the Belles are 13-2 on the season (6-0 in conference play). They are preseason picked to win the LSC this season.
- ASU's Kailyn Gilbreath was named the LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Gilbreath averages 2.79 kills, with a .342 hitting percentage, which is second in the LSC. - Baleigh Allen ranks eighth nationally in blocks per set, with a conference leading 1.37. She is 20
th nationally in total blocks with an LSC-best 63. Allen is the reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week.
- The Belles rank 10
th nationally, averaging 14.2 kills per set.
LADY CHAP NOTES
-With a 3-0 win Saturday over Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Lady Chaps are one of three LSC programs with a 6-0 conference record. If LCU claims a win over ASU, they will have their first eight-match win streak since a 12-match win streak during the 2018 season and first 7-0 conference start since a 12-0 start to their 2009 Sooner Athletic Conference schedule (LCU's current 6-0 start in conference matches a 6-0 start from the 2018 season).
-The Lady Chaps meet a nationally ranked opponent for a third time this season, as they are 0-2 against AVCA Top-25 nationally ranked programs after a 3-1 loss to No.4 Washburn and a 3-0 loss to No.15 Colorado School of Mines (both were on Sept. 10). LCU is 2-9 since 2015 against nationally ranked programs. Their last win over a ranked opponent was a 3-1 win over No.15 Angelo State last season inside Rip Griffin Center (Oct. 22, 2020) and their last road win over a nationally ranked squad was on Sept. 5, 2015, as LCU defeated No.22 West Texas A&M 3-2 in Canyon, Texas.
-Lubbock Christian is 5-0 in road matches this season, hitting .239 and holding the home teams to a .143 mark in attack percentage.
Hannah Froeschl is hitting .402 with 3.0 kills per set on the road (54 kills leads team).
Aaliyah Gray has 50 road kills, putting her with a per-set rate of 2.78. LCU has a 22-7 advantage in serving aces on the road.

Hannah Froeschl helped LCU top Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville this past weekend by averaging 2.33 kills per set and hit .333 on the week. Froeschl had nine kills, four blocks and hit .412 against TAMIU and followed with five kills (.250) and two blocks against TAMUK.

Jalee Sims had her streak of consecutive double-double performances end at six games Friday, but bounced back with 29 assists and 11 digs in a double-double performance against TAMUK for her ninth of the season. She ranks fourth in the LSC in assists (392) and is sixth in assists per set (8.0).
-With the combination of setter-play by Sims and
Kayton Genenbacher, LCU ranks third in the LSC in assists (577) and eighth in assists per set (11.8). LCU's hitting percentage of .239 ranks 35th nationally, which is their highest national ranking in an offensive category.
-The Lady Chaps lead the LSC in conference play in holding opponents to a hitting percentage of .070. LCU has held the opposition to a sub-.100 hitting percentage in four of their six LSC matches. Angelo State is second in the category, holding opponents to a .100 hitting percentage in their six LSC matches.

Kendall Mahaney ranks fifth in the LSC in digs (216) and ninth in digs per set (4.4). She has four matches with at least 20 digs on the season and her season and career-high mark is a 23-dig performance at Cameron.
