LOOKING AT WNMU
- LCU and Western New Mexico are meeting for the 14th time all-time, marking the fourth meeting as conference foes. LCU has won the prior five meetings, which have been since 1996 (last four meetings have been since 2009). WNMU leads the all-time series with a 7-6 mark (the series goes back to 1986). LCU is 1-2 all-time in Lubbock against WNMU, winning their previous meeting in Lubbock 3-1 (Sept. 27, 2019).
- WNMU was preseason picked to finish 16th in the Lone Star Conference. Coming off a 4-22 season in 2021 (3-14 in LSC play), they are 3-23 this season, with a 1-13 conference record, which has them in 16
th in the LSC. WNMU is 0-8 this season in road play and they are riding a 16-game losing streak in road contests carrying over from last season. Prior to coming to Lubbock Saturday, they stop off in Portales, N.M. Friday to face Eastern New Mexico.
- Jazmyne Walker is the Mustangs lone player in the top-five of a statistical category in the LSC, as she is fourth in attacks per set at a rate of 10.4 per set, which ranks 37
th nationally.
- The Mustangs average 1.35 aces per set and have had at least three matches with at least 10 aces this season. On Sept. 14, WNMU posted 12 aces against Angelo State. Madelynn Culp leads the team with 26 aces. She had at least one ace in 10 of the first 11 matches to open the season.
- Walker is the Mustangs leader in conference play, averaging 3.02 kills and 3.46 points per set. Bria Augustine has received much of the recent work, posting at least 10 kills in her last three matches played.
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU is 10-16 on the season (6-9 in conference and in 11
th place in the standings) and coming off a 3-1 road loss Wednesday at Eastern New Mexico, which eliminated the Lady Chaps from postseason contention. At home, LCU is 7-4 this season.
Kiana Fallaha leads LCU in kills at home with 97 and averages 2.55 per set (
Sage Chain right behind with 94 kills at home on the season). Chain leads LCU in blocks at home with 45 (pace of 1.12 per set). Additional leaders at home include
Kendall Mahaney averaging 4.19 digs per set and
Kayton Genenbacher averaging 10.3 assists and .29 aces per set.
-The Lady Chaps will tell you their schedule has been tough… and there is proof, as the NCAA strength of schedule numbers reveal LCU having played the 44th toughest schedule among all Division II programs (strength of schedule reflects numbers entering this week's week-of-play). LCU opponents have calculated a win percentage of 55.8%, which also ranks second among LSC programs behind Dallas Baptist (56.2%, ranking 38
th nationally).
- Lubbock Christian, 0-12 when losing the opening set of matches this season, is 8-1 when they win the third set and 2-15 when they lose the set. Sticking to record trends, LCU is 8-0 when leading in kills and 2-16 when trailing in the category. Bizarrely, LCU is 1-6 when leading in blocks in a match.
-
Kiana Fallaha heads into Saturday's match as the Lady Chaps team leader in kills (214), with
Lily Bickley (207) and
Sage Chain (197) completing LCU's top three kill leaders. Fallaha leads LCU in kills per set (2.46) and Chain is LCU's leader in points per set (2.9).
- Setter
Kayton Genenbacher has nine double-doubles on the season (leads LCU). Genenbacher averages 9.7 assists per set (third in the LSC and 58
th nationally), .22 aces per set and 2.52 digs per set. The sophomore is third in the LSC in total assists (932), which is 42
nd nationally. She posted a career-high 23 digs Oct. 7 at Angelo State to complete a stretch of fourth consecutive matches with a double-double.
- Sophomore libero
Kendall Mahaney has nine matches of at least 20 digs this season. Mahaney leads the team with 417 digs (eighth in the LSC) and is at a pace of 4.34 per set (ninth in the LSC).

rd nationally). She has posted at least seven blocks in a match four times this season, with a high of 8.0 on Sept. 3 vs. UCCS.
- Lubbock Christian had eight solo blocks on Oct. 15 at Texas A&M International, which is the most on record (in program history) since rally scoring started in 2001. They have posted at least five solo blocks in a match four times this season, which is the most in a single season since 2019. The Lady Chaps rank eighth in LSC matches with 1.97 blocks per set.
Kalli Dalland (0.96, seventh) and
Sage Chain (.90, 13th) rank in the top-15 in the LSC in blocks per set in conference matches.
-
Kiana Fallaha (119),
Lily Bickley (118),
Sage Chain (108) and

Chain leads the Lady Chaps with a pace of 2.67 points per set in LSC contests. LCU is hitting .177 in conference matches and opponents are at a .192 attack percentage against LCU in conference. Lubbock Christian is led in blocks in conference play by
Sage Chain (47) and
Kalli Dalland (44).
-Saturday marks Senior Day for the Lady Chaps, as LCU's

Cournoyer has overcome injuries over her 43-match career spanning three active seasons with the Lady Chaps, producing 165 kills and 98 blocks. McCully, who is the daughter of former Lady Chap Jennifer McCully (LCU's all-time single-season record holder in sets played), has been with the Lady Chaps for four seasons and has competed in 74 matches and has 414 digs and 35 aces in her LCU career.
