LOOKING AT FORT LEWIS COLLEGE
- LCU is 1-2 all-time against Fort Lewis College. The Lady Chaps won the prior meeting 3-0, in a meeting on Sept. 1, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is the first meeting between the two teams in Lubbock.
- FLCis a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), where they are preseason picked tied for 11th in the conference. They went 6-16 last season, finishing in a share of 10th place in the RMAC (6-12).
- The Skyhawks are 1-2 to open the season, going 1-2 at a classic hosted by Wester New Mexico in Silver City, N.M. The Skyhawks open their Lubbock stay Friday morning facing Southwestern Oklahoma State before facing LCU.
- Rylee Johnson supports a .391 hitting percentage, which ranks fifth in the RMAC. As a team, FLC ranks fifth in the RMAC hitting .200.
- Fort Lewis is sixth in the RMAC with 1.77 aces per set, with Alexis Hobie leading the team with six and .46 per set. Hobie also leads the team in kills (36), kills per set (2.77) and points per set (3.35).
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU is 2-3 on the young season and entering the game on a two-match win streak following a 3-0 win in their home opener Thursday over Southwestern Oklahoma State.
-Thursday's win improved the Lady Chaps to 11-3 in home openers since 2008. The win marked their fourth consecutive home opening victory and the second in the streak against SWOSU, who was the last team to defeat LCU in a home opener (2018).
- Freshman Lily Bickley leads the team in kills through five matches of play, as she has 52 kills (fifth in the conference) at a rate of 3.47 per set (eighth in the conference). Bickley is responsible for 3.80 points per set (11th in the LSC) and she ranks 14th in the LSC in hitting percentage (.298). Saturday against Alaska Fairbanks had an attack mark of .625 in the match. Since 2008, Bickley's attack percentage was the fourth highest produced by a Lady Chap and the highest since Jaiden Kennedy posted a .700 mark on October 11, 2018.
- Setter Kayton Genenbacher was named to the Seawolf Invitational All-Tournament Team after contributing 135 assists in 14 sets for a rate of 9.6 per set. She produced new career high marks on the weekend, including back-to-back 40-assist performances in matches against Pittsburg State and Alaska Fairbanks. Against Pittsburg State, she produced her second career double-double, which featured 40 assists and 13 digs to go along with five kills. Thursday, she produced her third career double-double (39 assists, 10 digs), to place her with a LSC-leading 174 assists and ranking third with 10.24 per set.
- Sophomore Libero Kendall Mahaney, who was two digs shy of a career-high mark Friday against Pittsburg State (posting 26 digs), leads the team with 84 digs (tied atop the LSC and 28th nationally) and is at a pace of 4.94 per set (third in the LSC and 21st nationally).
- Saturday against Emmanuel, Zoe Parker notched LCU's 10th performance of five or more aces in a three-set match since 2008, and became the second Lady Chaps member to do it twice in the same span. Her production of five aces in the match tied for third (since 2008) for the most aces by a Lady Chaps member in a three-set match. Parker has 10 aces on the season, which ranks her second in the conference, and she also ranks sixth with 0.59 aces per set (fifth in the LSC).
- LCU's top team category entering the weekend is ranking 56th nationally in total blocks with a 29.0. Sage Chain leads LCU ranking sixth in the LSC with a pace of 1.24 blocks per set (21 total on the season, ranking tied for third in the LSC). LCU game-by-game individual records displaying solo blocks go back to 2008 and (in that span) no Lady Chap had recorded six solo blocks in a single match until Chain completed the task in three sets Thursday over Southwestern Oklahoma State. She topped her prior career high of four solo blocks, which she had done twice (she is the only Lady Chaps to have at least four solo blocks in multiple matches). She finished the match with seven total blocks (her career high is nine), which is tied for the fifth most in a three-set match since 2008 and is the most in a three-set match for a Lady Chap since Hannah Froeschl had seven against Bentley on Sept. 4, 2021.
