DENTON, Texas (October 10, 2023) – Lubbock Christian University plays another three-match week, but not all of it is on the road as it was last week. The Lady Chaparrals close out a four-match road trip Wednesday at Texas Woman's (6 p.m.) before returning home for matches against Angelo State (Friday at 6 p.m.) and Texas Permian Basin (Saturday at 2 p.m.).

LOOKING AT TWU
- TWU has a 6-5 edge in the all-time series between the two programs. The Pioneers won 3-0 Sept. 15 in Lubbock (LSC Crossover) earlier this season. LCU claimed a 3-1 win in their last visit to Denton (Oct. 16, 2021), which placed them with a 2-0 record all-time in Denton. The first four all-time meetings (of 11) were neutral site meetings and played between 1979 and 1988.
- TWU was preseason picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. They went 16-12 overall last season (7-9 in conference), closing out their regular season going 4-1.
- The Pioneers are 12-4 on the season and they are fifth in the LSC with a 4-1 conference mark. They have won their last two matches and both were at home, where they are 5-1 this season and winners of their last four home matches. TWU heads into Wednesday with a streak of 12 straight set wins at home.
- On the offensive side, TWU is hitting .244, which ranks third in the LSC and 29
th nationally. They have hit at least .200 in 14 of the last 15 matches and are third in the LSC hitting .228 in LSC contests. Kady Hansen, second overall in LSC with a .378 hitting mark (28
th nationally) is fourth in LSC contests with a .386 hitting percentage. She sits right ahead of teammate Cara Pool, who is third in the LSC hitting .376 (30
th nationally).
- Grace Reynolds leads the LSC and is 39
th nationally in aces per set with a mark of 0.54 and is fourth in the LSC with 28 on the campaign. As a team, TWU is second in the LSC with 1.95 aces per set. They produced a whopping 16 aces against Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 4.
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU was one of 13 unbeaten teams this season before falling 3-2 Sept.14 to UT Permian Basin. The season start was their best since opening 2010 with an 8-0 record. The loss also ended an eight-match win streak if you include their season-ending win last season (their longest under head coach
Keith Giboney and the longest streak since a 12-match win streak in 2018). The Lady Chaps went into conference play with an 8-2 record on the season and their pre-conference record was their best 10-match start to their season since opening the first 10 matches of the 2014 season with a 9-1 record. They are 4-3 in LSC play (seventh in the standings), and they aim for a fifth consecutive road win Wednesday. They enter the contest 12-5 overall following a 3-1 win Saturday at St. Mary's, which has LCU surpassing last season's win total (11).

Kayton Genenbacher was named LSC Setter of the Week for her performances over LCU's matches last week. Genenbacher helped LCU to a 3-0 week with a trio of road wins, including a pair of come-from-behind five-set wins (at Midwestern State and St. Edward's, as she posted 139 assists at a pace of 9.93 assists per set. She posted double-double performance at MSU (54a,14d) and at SEU (39a,16d). The double-double at SEU (her ninth of the season and 20th of her career) also included a career-high five aces in the win. The five aces are tied for the second-most aces in a five-set match by a Lady Chaps member since 2008. The junior from Lubbock closed out the week with 46 assists (11.5 per set) against St. Mary's.
The honor marks the second time an LCU setter has been recognized with a Setter of the Week honor by the LSC (all-time) and each have come this season for Genenbacher, who is one of two setters in the LSC to receive multiple weekly honors (from the LSC). The honor marks the third time this season a Lady Chaps member has claimed a LSC weekly honor. Outside of Genenbacher's honor,

- Genenbacher has nine double-doubles this season (20 in career) and enters Wednesday ranking second in the LSC in assists (648, 23
rd nationally), third in assists per set (9.53, 48
th nationally) and second in aces with 29 (produced a career-high 5 Friday at SEU). Her assists are fueling a Lady Chaps offense that rank seventh in the LSC in kills per set (12.8) and is hitting .198 on the season. Genenbacher surpassed 1,500 career assists on Sept. 23 (at Oklahoma Christian), and has 648 on the season on the season.

Kiana Fallaha ranks fifth in the LSC in kills per set (3.5) and fourth in kills (235). She is fifth in the LSC in points per set with 3.8. Fallaha is third in the LSC (24
th nationally) with a pace of 10.9 attacks per set and has produced over 40 attacks in 11 matches this season. Friday (at SEU), she notched her ninth double-double of the season (and of her career) and she has double-double performances in five of her last eight matches.
- LCU ranks sixth in the LSC (47
th nationally) in digs per set (16.8), but it has been a balanced effort, as the Lady Chaps do not have any representation in the top-15 in conference leaders in digs.
Chloe Menard is LCU's leader with 3.69 digs per set, as she has 251 total digs on the season. Four Lady Chaps (Menard, Genenbacher,
Olivia Elofsson and Fallaha) have at least 2.7 digs per set.
- Lubbock Christian is 5-1 in true road matches this season, with their most recent road match resulting in a 3-1 LCU win at St. Mary's Saturday. LCU has a 341-320 advantage in kills on the road, with
Kiana Fallaha averaging 3.30 kills per set. She averages 3.7 points per set in road matches.
