LOOKING AT UTT
- The Lady Chaps and UT Tyler opened their all-time series during the 2019 season in Tyler, Texas, where the Patriots topped LCU 3-1 on Oct. 4, 2019. UTT swept the regular season series last season, as LCU fell 3-1 in San Angelo, Texas (LSC Crossover on Sept. 9, 2022) and 3-0 in Tyler on Sept. 24, 2022. The sweep has UTT leading the all-time series at 4-0. LCU is 0-1 all-time in Lubbock against the Patriots, with the previous meeting in Lubbock resulting in a 3-1 loss on Oct. 22, 2021.

- UTT is preseason picked second in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll despite not receiving any first-place votes. They went 20-10 overall last season and was tied for fourth in the LSC with a mark of 12-4 in conference. They qualified for the NCAA Division II South Central Regional last season, where they lost in the opening round to West Texas A&M.

- The Pats' have alternated wins and losses in their last eight contests and head into Lubbock following a 3-0 win Friday over Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M. UT Tyler is 8-6 overall and 2-1 in LSC play. They are 1-1 in road play, picking up their first road win Friday behind eight kills from Maiya Pena.

- Freshman Shaye Koski had registered four consecutive double-doubles heading into Friday's match at Eastern New Mexico, which came to an end. She had notched at least 15 kills in the final three matches of the span and has totaled double-digit kill totals in all but three matches in 2023. Koski ranks fourth in the LSC in kills per set (3.75) and fourth in points per set (3.99). She opened the week leading the LSC in attacks per set with 11.91, which ranks 11th nationally.

- UTT ranks third in the LSC in assists per set (12.8, which ranks 16th nationally) and second in kills per set (13.8, which ranks 15th nationally). The Patriots average 14.6 kills per set and 13.6 assists per set in LSC play.

LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU was one of 13 unbeaten teams this season before falling 3-2 Sept.14 to UT Permian Basin. The season start was their best since opening 2010 with an 8-0 record. The loss also ended an eight-match win streak if you include their season-ending win last season (their longest under head coach Keith Giboney and the longest streak since a 12-match win streak in 2018).  The Lady Chaps went into conference play with an 8-2 record on the season and their pre-conference record was their best 10-match start to their season since opening the first 10 matches of the 2014 season with a 9-1 record. They are off to a 1-2 start in LSC play, and looking to add to their 3-1 win at Oklahoma Christian (last Saturday) in the win column. The enter Saturday 9-4 overall.

Friday (vs. DBU), she notched her seventh double-double of the season (and of her career) and she has double-double performances in three of her last four matches.

- LCU ranks sixth in the LSC in digs per set (16.8), but it has been a balanced effort, as the Lady Chaps do not have any representation in the top-15 in conference leaders in digs.
