LOOKING AT UTPB
- The Lady Chaps and Falcons first squared off in 1995 and have met 52 times since (53 total meetings), with LCU owning a 42-11 series advantage over the Falcons. LCU, winners of two of the prior three meetings, had won 15 consecutive matches prior to 2019, but UTPB has won seven of the last 11 meetings. The Lady Chaps and UTPB met Sept 19 in their first neutral site setting (in Laredo, Texas) since Sept. 9, 2016 (in Stephenville, Texas), with UTPB claiming a 3-0 win. LCU is 18-6 all-time in Lubbock in the series, which includes a 3-1 LCU win on Oct.14, 2023. The two programs are former Heartland Conference foes and LCU was 6-0 all-time in Heartland action against the Falcons.
- UT Permian Basin finished 10th in the LSC last season with an 8-8 mark. They dropped their final three matches to miss the LSC Championships and finished with a 17-10 overall record. They are tied for ninth in the LSC Preseason Poll. UT Permian Basin enters Wednesday's matchup against Lubbock Christian with a 10-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Falcons are coming off a 3-0 home win against Midwestern State, which snapped a brief losing streak. Their season includes a strong showing at neutral sites, where they've gone 3-2, including a notable 3-0 sweep of Lubbock Christian on Sept. 20. UTPB has been solid at home, boasting a 5-2 record in Odessa, and has performed well on the road, posting a 2-1 away record. While their early season was marked by two close losses in neutral matches, they rebounded quickly with consecutive wins, including victories over Sul Ross State and Southeastern Oklahoma.
- CJ Allard is in his first season as head coach of the Falcons. He has been a head coach at the collegiate beach volleyball level, but his history indoors includes assistant coaching gigs at Northeastern, Coastal Carolina, and UNC Greensboro,

LADY CHAP NOTES
- Lubbock Christian enters Wednesday's match with an 8-8 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Lone Star Conference play, currently ranked tied for fifth among LSC teams (with St. Mary's and Texas Woman's). They played their first 14 matches of the season away from home, where they are 2-0 on the season.
- The Lone Star Conference announced its weekly awards, and Lubbock Christian University's
Bryleigh Schweer earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for her standout performances in matches played from Oct. 7-13.
After opening the season with 14 matches away from home, LCU returned home and secured significant victories against Texas A&M-Kingsville (3-1) and Texas A&M International (3-2). Both matches held extra weight as LCU and their opponents entered the contests tied in the Lone Star Conference standings. Schweer was a force defensively, recording a staggering nine blocks in the win over Texas A&M International, tying the highest solo block mark in LCU's NCAA-era. Her ninth block was of importance, as it was the match-point in the fifth set, as she combo-blocked with
Kayton Genenbacher. The Greeley, Colo native also added 14 kills and three blocks against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Schweer's consistent presence at the net was a game-changer, as her efforts helped LCU reach 32 block assists against TAMIU. She was instrumental in a couple of historic marks in the two matches. Against TAMUK, LCU recorded 67 kills, their highest total in a four-set match since 2013, and 61 assists, their most in a four-set match since the same 2013 McMurry game (Nov. 15, 2013). Against TAMIU, LCU's 32 block assists were the most in their NCAA-era (dating back to 2013) and their highest mark of game-by-game files recorded since 2008. Their 16 total blocks tied the LSC season-high mark for this season.
Schweer became the second LCU player this season to earn an LSC weekly honor, following
Leddy Rae Guinn's Freshman of the Week recognition on Sept. 30. This marks Schweer's first career accolade and the first time an LCU player has won Defensive Player of the Week since Hannah Froeschl in September 2021.
The weekly marks have Schweer leading the team in hitting percentage (.316, 11
th in LSC), blocks (39) and blocks per set (0.62). She ranks 10

Giboney, who has four NCAA Tournament appearances and seven conference titles on his resume, surpassed 400 coaching victories in his first season with LCU and has a career coaching mark of 440-212. The Chaps head coach entered the season as the 29th best-active head coach in win percentage (.679) and as the 27th best-active head coach in victories (432). He has the third-highest win total of head coaches with less than 20 years of head coaching experience.
