Lady Chaps Look to Extend Five-Match Streak Against Six-Game Strong ASU Belles

SAN ANGELO, Texas (October 26, 2024) – From the Gateway to the Gila to the Concho Valley, Lubbock Christian University's week on the road (part of a four-match road trip that heads to Central Texas next week) continues in Junell Center Saturday at 2 p.m., as the Lady Chaparrals takes a five-match win streak into a Lone Star Conference meeting against No.15 Angelo State, who seeks to defend a six-match win streak.

LOOKING AT ASU
- LCU and Angelo State are meeting for the 35th time all-time. ASU won the prior meeting 3-1 in Lubbock on Oct. 13, 2023. ASU, who had a nine-match win streak from 1980, has won the prior eight meetings and leads the all-time series 25-9. Five of the last six meetings have been played in San Angelo, where the Belles are 13-5 against LCU.

- ASU is coming off a 24-8 season and a NCAA South Central Regional qualifying season, but they closed their season going 2-4 in their last six matches. They went 11-1 at home last season and finished the LSC slate in a tie for third with a 12-4 conference record. They were preseason picked third in the LSC heading into this season.

- The Belles have had an impressive 2024 season so far, boasting an 18-2 overall record and an 8-1 mark in Lone Star Conference play (second in the LSC standings). The Belles have shown consistency both at home (6-1) and on the road (8-1), as well as in neutral-site matches (4-0). After an early five-set loss to Central Oklahoma, they have been dominant, winning six straight matches, including key LSC victories over Texas Woman's, Texas A&M International and UT Permian Basin.

- ASU has excelled in several key statistical categories both nationally and within the Lone Star Conference. Notably, they rank first in the LSC and ninth nationally in kills per set with 14.39, demonstrating their offensive firepower. They also lead the conference in assists per set with 13.63, placing them sixth nationally, showcasing efficient playmaking. Defensively, they are strong as well, ranking second in the LSC with an opponent hitting percentage of .176, making it tough for opponents to score effectively.
