Lady Chaps Lead in Academic Honors, Spike Top Conference Awards

Bickley, Genenbacher Earn First-Team Honors; LCU Tops LSC With Three All-Academic Selections

CANYON, Texas (November 20, 2024) – The Lone Star Conference volleyball awards were announced during the championship banquet to open the LSC Championships, hosted by West Texas A&M, with five Lady Chaparrals earning honors. Lily Bickley and Kayton Genenbacher were named to the All-Conference First Team, while Leddy Rae Guinn received Honorable Mention recognition. Bickley was also joined by Kiana Fallaha and Payton Murray on the LSC All-Academic Team.
 
Bickley has been an offensive force for Lubbock Christian this season, earning All-Lone Star Conference First Team and LSC All-Academic Team honors. The two-time All-Conference selection (Second Team last season) ranks among the conference leaders in several categories, including seventh in points per set (4.02) and fifth in kills per set (3.44) during conference play. Bickley, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas has also contributed 219 kills in LSC action (fifth in the league) while hitting .362 (sixth in the LSC). Nationally, the two-time LSC Preseason Players to Watch ranks 76th in points per set and has tallied 332 kills this season, placing her in the top 10 in the conference. Bickley holds a 4.00 GPA striving towards a degree in Biology. She was recognized with CSC Academic All-District (a regional honor) accolades last season.
 
Genenbacher, a local Frenship product from Lubbock, has been a standout at setter, earning All-Lone Star Conference First Team honors. Becoming a two-time All-LSC pick (Honorable Mention last season), she leads the LSC and ranks seventh nationally with 1,137 total assists this season. Her average of 11.15 assists per set ranks second in the conference and 12th nationally. Genenbacher's 738 assists in LSC matches are the most in the league since 2018, and her 11.9 assists per set in conference play are the highest since 2015. Highlighting her senior season was a 73-assist performance against Dallas Baptist, tying the highest mark in NCAA Division II this season. She also reached 3,000 career assists this year, cementing her legacy in the LCU record books.
 
Guinn earned Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference recognition for her strong defensive presence. The freshman libero from Stephenville, Texas leads LCU with 4.2 digs per set in conference play (ninth in the LSC) and has tallied 395 digs this season, placing her 10th in the conference. Her steady contributions on the backline have been key to LCU ranking eighth in the LSC in digs per set (15.9). Guinn has produced eight matches of at least 20 digs and has one performance of at least 30 digs this season.
 
Fallaha has been a crucial part of LCU's offensive production, earning LSC All-Academic Team honors for a third consecutive season majoring in Exercise Science. The returning CSC Academic All-District honoree ranks third in the conference in attacks per set (10.95) and is 27th nationally. Fallaha, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has totaled 854 attacks this season despite missing six matches, and her 268 total kills rank 19th in the conference.
 
Murray joined Bickley and Fallaha on the LSC All-Academic Team, showcasing her contributions on and off the court. A returning CSC Academic All-District selection, Murray continues to hold a 4.00 GPA in Marketing. The junior from Holliday, Texas has been a consistent offensive presence for the Lady Chaps, recording double-figure kills in 13 of the last 17 regular season matches. Over that span, she has averaged 2.9 kills per set, and her season total of 260 kills ranks 23rd in the conference. She ranked 12th in LSC play with 192 kills in conference competition. Murray has been a vital part of LCU's balanced offensive attack, which ranks fifth in the LSC in kills per set (13.8).
 
The Lady Chaps topped the LSC with three All-Academic Team selections. On the court, the Lady Chaps completed a 9-7 conference slate and claimed the No.8-seed for the LSC Championships. LCU (13-13) opens their LSC postseason Thursday at 5 p.m. inside WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" facing top-seeded No.5 West Texas A&M. The tournament is an eight-team single-elimination event.
