Sears Tower of Assists: Record-Setting Day Fuels LCU’s 13th Straight Victory

Freshman Setter Ties LCU Record with 62 Assists as Lady Chaps Stay Perfect in Lone Star Conference Play

RICHARDSON, Texas (October 18, 2025) – In a record-setting offensive display, Lubbock Christian University stormed past UT Dallas in four sets 3-1 (25–13, 25–27, 25–19, 25–18) Saturday afternoon to extend its winning streak to 13 matches—its longest since a 16-match stretch in 2008. The Lady Chaps remained perfect in Lone Star Conference play, improving to 17–4 overall and 9–0 in the LSC, while the Comets dropped to 3–15 overall and 1–7 in league play in their inaugural LSC season.

The spotlight belonged to freshman setter Camdyn Sears, who engineered one of the most remarkable performances in program history. Sears registered a career-high 62 assists, tying the program record for a four-set match in the rally-scoring era (since 2008) and matching the highest total in NCAA Division II this season for a four-set contest. Her 62 assists also set a UT Dallas opponent record and marked the highest four-set total in the Lone Star Conference of individual match records on file since 2015. Alongside her historic night, she added 11 digs for her 13th double-double of the season and fourth straight.

Lily Bickley led the attack with 16 kills on a blistering .556 hitting percentage, her most efficient outing of the year. The senior's performance marked her 13th double-figure match of the season and the 52nd of her career, continuing her climb among LCU's all-time leaders. Bryleigh Schweer matched a career high with 15 kills and hit .481 while adding six blocks and an ace to post a career-best 19 points. Freshman Emilee Sikora tallied 15 kills of her own on .333 hitting, extending her double-digit streak to seven of her last eight matches.

Defensively, Abby Dominguez anchored the back row with 21 digs, her eighth 20+ dig effort of the season and 10th of her LCU career. Collectively, LCU hit .308 while limiting UTD to .172. The Lady Chaps finished with 66 assists as a team—tying a program record for a four-set match—and extended their road success to 7–1 with their seventh consecutive road victory.

UT Dallas, in its first season competing in the Lone Star Conference (previously they were Division III) were paced offensively by Jane Burkhardt (team-high 15 kills) and Moriah Johnson (11 kills), while Abby Gentner ran the offense with 41 assists and Mari Hernandez led UTD with 17 digs

Game Notes
» Freshman Camdyn Sears registered a career-high 62 assists, which is tied for the most in program history for a four-set match in the current rally scoring era, which started in 2008 (matched Erin Fisher's mark of 62 in a four-set match on Nov. 15, 2013). Overall, it is tied for the seventh-most assists in program history under the current rally scoring era (most since Kayton Genenbacher had 73 against Dallas Baptist on Nov. 16, 2024). Additionally, the mark matches the highest mark in a NCAA Division II match this season for a four-set match (Caitlin Bishop, Mo.-St. Louis vs. Truman State on Oct. 11). It is the highest mark for a four-set match in the Lone Star Conference and it the highest mark of records on file (with the LSC) going back to 2015. Sears' mark was also a UT Dallas program record for the number of assists in a four-set match for an opposing player.

» The team produced 66 assists, which also ties a program record under the current rally scoring era for a four-set match (ties 66 against McMurry on Nov. 15, 2013). Overall, it ties for the 10th most in a match in program history under the current rally scoring era (most since 80 against Dallas Baptist on Nov. 16, 2024). The 66 assists in a four-set match ties as the 8th-most in an NCAA Div. II match this season.  It is the highest mark in a four-set Lone Star Conference match since UT Tyler produced 72 at Lubbock Christian on Sept. 30, 2023.

» Lily Bickley had 16 kills and 4 blocks. Her 52nd double-digit kill performance of her career (13th of the season) came off a season-high .556 attack percentage.

» Bryleigh Schweer matched a career high with 15 kills, as she had an impressive attack percentage of .481. The 15 kills also marked her sixth double-digit kill performance of the season and 14th of her career. Toss in an ace and six blocks and she led the Lady Chaps with a career-high 19 points in the match.

» Along with her big assist outing, Camdyn Sears added 11 digs for her 13th double-double of the season (fourth consecutive match with a double-double).

» Freshman Emilee Sikora notched 15 kills (off a .333 attack percentage) for her 11th match with at least 10 kills (has double-figure kill production in seven of her last eight matches played).

» Abby Dominguez led LCU with 21 digs for her eighth match this season (10th in her lCU career) with at least 20 digs.

» The win marked the Lady Chaps' 13th consecutive win. The 13-match win streak is their best since a 16-match win streak in 2008.

» Improving to 9-0 in LSC play, LCU is off to their best conference start since starting 12-0 in 2009, and they are currently the only unbeaten team (in conference) in the LSC.

» LCU improved to 7-1 in road matches and has won seven consecutive road matches. The seven road wins is their best since 10 in 2021 (10-2).

» The meeting was the first-ever meeting between the two programs, as UT Dallas is making the move from Division III and are their inaugural season in the Lone Star Conference.

How It Happened

SET 1 | LCU 25, UTD 13
Lubbock Christian set the tone early in Richardson, dominating the opening frame 25–13 behind a balanced and efficient attack. After trading points to a 6–5 edge, the Lady Chaps ignited an eventual 8–3 surge fueled by senior Bryleigh Schweer, who registered three kills in the stretch. Setter Camdyn Sears dictated the tempo with precision, assisting on nearly every LCU kill in the set while spreading the offense across all six rotations. Jade Workman chipped in a key kill midway through the run, and Olivia Elofsson delivered a timely service ace to extend the lead to 15–9. The Chaps closed with relentless rhythm, taking 12 of the final 16 points behind Bickley's fifth kill of the frame and a pair of late swings from Camryn Blair to close the frame. LCU hit at a crisp clip (.424) and out-blocked UT Dallas 3-1 in the set, with Sears finishing the frame with 15 assists as the Lady Chaps established full control from start to finish.

SET 2 | UTD 27, LCU 25
The second set turned into a back-and-forth battle as Lubbock Christian fought off multiple set points before narrowly falling 27–25 to UT Dallas. The Lady Chaps fell behind early after several well-placed kills by UTD's Jane Burkhardt, who fueled the Comets' offense with 8 kills in the frame. Setter Camdyn Sears continued to keep the attack balanced, recording 17 assists in the set as she connected effectively with Emilee Sikora and Jade Workman on the wings. Down the stretch, Kyla Farnan provided a spark off the bench with a clutch service ace and Schweer and Workman's combo block pulled LCU even at 25–25 after staving off UTD's set point. However, the Comets capitalized on consecutive kills by Burkhardt to take the set. Bickley (6), Sikora (5) and Schweer (5) combined for 16 of LCU's 18 kills in the set.

SET 3 | LCU 25, UTD 19
Lubbock Christian regained control in the third set, pulling away late for a 25–19 win to take a 2–1 lead in the match. After an early seesaw stretch with 4 ties through the opening points (had six ties in the set), the Lady Chaps began to separate behind steady setting from Camdyn Sears, who directed a balanced attack that saw Lily Bickley, Emilee Sikora, and Payton Murray each contribute key kills. Ramsey Clark provided a momentum boost from the service line with back-to-back aces (put LCU up 18-14), while Bryleigh Schweer and Jade Workman combined for several critical blocks (each had three in the set) to slow the Comets' rhythm. LCU used a 6-0 run, which was part of an 8-1 scoring stretch to leading 20–14.  Kills from Bickley and Murray setup set point, and LCU sealed the set on a block by Workman and Schweer to reclaim the match's momentum heading to the fourth. Murray led LCU with four kills in the set.

SET 4 | LCU 25, UTD 18
The Lady Chaps secured a decisive victory over the Comets in the fourth set, finishing 25-18. After an early exchange of points, the Lady Chaps took control with a series of successful attacks led by Payton Murray (4) and Bryleigh Schweer (6), who combined to record 10 kills in the set. Camdyn Sears played a pivotal role, assisting on 19 of LCU's 20 kills throughout the set. Texas-Dallas attempted to rally with strong plays from Moriah Johnson and Camryn Kerlick, but the Lady Chaps maintained their lead. The set concluded with Jade Workman delivering the final point off a Sears assist, sealing the set and match. LCU, who also had five kills in the set from Sikora, hit .409 at the net.
