Setter Becomes Second LCU Freshman in Rally-Scoring Era to Eclipse 1,000 Assists, Collects Seventh LSC Weekly Award of the Season

RICHARDSON, Texas (November 4, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University freshman setter Camdyn Sears continued her standout debut campaign by earning Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week honors, marking her seventh weekly award of the season after another milestone-setting performance directing the Lady Chaparrals' attack.

Sears guided LCU to a 2–1 week in conference play while surpassing 1,000 assists on the season, becoming just the second freshman in LCU's rally-scoring era (since 2008) to reach that mark. The Midland, Texas, native totaled 146 assists (10.43 per set) and 50 digs (3.57 per set) across three matches, producing three double-doubles and her fourth and fifth 50-assist performances of the year. She capped the week with 40 assists and 11 digs in Saturday's 3–1 win over Dallas Baptist, helping the Lady Chaps remain atop the Lone Star Conference standings.

Already one of the most decorated setters in program history for a single season, Sears has now compiled seven LSC weekly honors — three Setter of the Week and Freshman of the Week (one week consisting of achieving both) — extending her record for the most weekly awards earned by an LCU freshman in a single season.

Under Sears' leadership, LCU's offense continues to rank among the league's most efficient, averaging more than 13.9 kills per set on the season (18th nationally) and recording a season-high 70 kills as a team in the win over Texas Woman's.

Sears is one of four Lady Chaps to be recognized with Lone Star Conference weekly honors this fall, joining Lily Bickley, Emilee Sikora, and Jade Workman (the trio each claimed Offensive Player of the Week selections). The 2025 Lady Chaparrals have now produced 10 total weekly conference honors, extending an already program-record total in their Lone Star Conference era.

The Lady Chaparrals (21–5, 13–1 LSC) continue their season-ending homestand this week, hosting UT Permian Basin on Friday at 6 p.m. and Angelo State on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center.
