How It Happened
SET 1 | ASU 25, LCU 23
Angelo State claimed the opening set 25–23 after fending off a late rally from Lubbock Christian. The Lady Chaps opened strong behind early blocks from
Lily Bickley and
Emilee Sikora to take a 4–1 lead, but the Belles rallied back and a series of kills from Julia Hopkins evened the set at 12–12. Hopkins dominated the middle stretch, recording 10 kills in the set, while Madi Parrish added five. LCU briefly closed the gap to 23–22 behind balanced hitting from
Payton Murray (four kills) and Bickley (three), but Hopkins' late strike set up set point before Parrish sealed the frame with a kill. Setter
Camdyn Sears tallied 10 assists for the Lady Chaps.
SET 2 | ASU 25, LCU 10
Angelo State dominated the second set 25–10, using a blistering offensive surge and Lubbock Christian errors. Trailing 2-1, ASU responded with a 14-2 run, which included six consecutive serves from Madi Parrish — who delivered a service ace and two kills during the run — to seize a 15–4 advantage. LCU struggled to find rhythm offensively, committing eight attack errors in the frame, while ASU hit efficiently behind Demi Carter, Cate Boldrick, and Julia Hopkins, who combined for eight kills. Parrish led all hitters with four kills in the set, and setter Gabi Ashcraft added seven assists to help the Belles hit .371.
Lily Bickley had three of LCU's eight kills, as the Lady Chaps hit .000 in the set.
SET 3 | ASU 25, LCU 16
ASU took control early in the third set with a series of scoring actions led by Parrish, who contributed several key kills, bringing the score from 4-4 to 9-4. The Lady Chaps struggled to keep pace, calling a timeout at 9-4 in an attempt to regroup. Despite a service error from Angelo State that gave LCU a brief respite, Parrish continued her strong performance, adding a trio of kills during a 4-1 run to extend their lead to 13-7. A service ace from Gabi Ashcraft pushed the Rambelles further ahead, and they maintained their momentum throughout the set. Ultimately, a final attack error by LCU concluded the set in favor of Angelo State, 25-16. Parish finished with eight kills in the set.
Bryleigh Schweer led LCU in the set with four kills.
What's Next
LCU (14–2) remains atop the Lone Star Conference standings with a .875 winning percentage, but while the Lady Chaps have just one regular-season match remaining — Wednesday's Senior Night showdown at 6 p.m. inside the Rip Griffin Center against Midwestern State — both Angelo State and West Texas A&M (13–2) still have two matches left to play. A win Wednesday would guarantee LCU at least a share of the LSC regular-season title.
