LUBBOCK, Texas (February 14, 2026) — With members of the 2015-16 Lubbock Christian University NCAA Division II title-winning team in attendance for their 10-year reunion and Homecoming Weekend, No. 23 Lubbock Christian raced out to an early lead and never looked back Saturday, rolling to an 80-44 Lone Star Conference victory over Texas A&M International at Rip Griffin Center.
The Lady Chaps (20-5, 12-4 LSC) closed the first quarter on a decisive 13-2 run and held the Dustdevils to 1-of-12 shooting during the stretch to take a 17-7 advantage after 10 minutes. LCU continued to build separation in the second quarter, outscoring TAMIU 24-12 to carry a commanding 41-19 lead into halftime.
Kennedy Chappell powered the surge with a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 6-of-6 effort in the first half. The junior was also flawless at the free-throw line (8-of-8) and added 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and of her career, giving her double-doubles in consecutive games.
Lubbock Christian maintained its momentum in the third quarter, opening the half with a 14-2 run and outscoring the Dustdevils 20-8 in the period to extend the margin to 61-27 entering the fourth. The Lady Chaps shot 50.8% from the field for the game, including 55.2% in the second half, and held a 47-33 edge on the glass.
Freshman
Raegan Lee posted career highs with 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals, marking her third double-figure scoring effort of the season.
Kyndle Cunningham added eight points, while
Mattie Dollar scored six in the third quarter to help fuel LCU's decisive push.
Texas A&M International (12-10, 9-7 LSC) was led by Racheal Emmanuel, who recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Bridgette Tello added nine points, and Andrea Reyes scored six. The Dustdevils shot 27.1% from the field and were limited to just 19 points in the first half.
LCU forced 20 turnovers and turned them into a season-high 29 points, while also holding a 52-24 advantage in points in the paint. The win marked Lubbock Christian's 20th of the season, securing its ninth consecutive 20-win campaign and improving the Lady Chaps to 9-1 at home this year.
How It Happened
The game began with Dacia Jones of Texas A&M International hitting a three-pointer just five seconds in, assisted by Jayden Smallwood, to take an early lead. The Lady Chaps responded with a layup by
Kennedy Chappell , which was the first of 10 points in the period for the junior guard. Trailing 5-4, LCU would respond with 11-0 run, which was part of a 13-2 run to close the quarter for a 17-7 LCU lead (TAMIU went 1-for-12 from the field during the LCU run).
The Lady Chaps extended the run to a 15-2 run on an early layup in the frame by
Martie McCoy, before the Dustdevils ended the dry spell. Chappell contributed significantly with 9 points in the period and was 4-of-4 from the free throws. She went 6-of-6 from the field in the first half (had 19 points in the half) and the perfect first half performance (not only 6-of-6 from the field in the half, but also 6-of-6 from the charity stripe) included nailing a three-pointer, pushing the lead to 38-17.
Meg Meekins and
Kyndle Cunningham each made key baskets, with Meekins also recording a timely assist to help produce a 9-2 LCU run.
Tia Johnson closed the quarter with a free throw, securing a 41-19 advantage for the Lady Chaps at halftime (LCU closed the half on a 10-2 run).
In the third quarter, the Chaps extended their lead with a commanding performance, outscoring the visitors 20-8.
Tia Johnson added four points with a layup at 8:31 and a pair of free throws in the final seconds for four points in the frame. Chappell contributed significantly with a layup at 6:20 and two free throws at 5:34. LCU had a 14-2 run in the quarter, and
Mattie Dollar's layup with 39 seconds remaining capped off the period (she led LCU with six points in the period), giving the Chaps a 61-27 advantage heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Chaparrals secured their victory by maintaining their lead with strong offensive play. Andrea Reyes opened the period with a jumper for the Dustdevils, but the Chaparrals responded promptly as
Raegan Lee converted a layup at 8:45, followed by a successful and-one free throw to extend the lead to 64-29. Despite a brief scoring effort from Racheal Emmanuel, who added a layup and two free throws for TAMIU (she scored 9 for the Dustdevils in the quarter), the home team's offense proved relentless. Lee further solidified their advantage with a three-pointer at 2:12, and
Deja Johnson added a layup at 1:42, pushing the score to 78-39. A late three-pointer from Reyes brought TAMIU to 42, yet the Chaparrals capped the game with a final layup by Lee, concluding the contest 80-44 (Lee led LCU with 8 points in the quarter, which also had her leading the team in scoring for the half).

Raegan Lee had a career performance, recording career highs in points (12) steals (3) and rebounds (8). The 12 points marked her third double-digit scoring performance of the season.
» The Dustdevils entered the contest ranked second in the nation in free-throw attempts per game (23.9), but Saturday LCU had the upper-hand in the category, with a 20-18 advantage in free-throw attempts and out-scored TAMIU 15-10 from the line.
» Texas A&M International entered the game second in the LSC in rebounding and leading the LSC in offensive boards, but LCU won the rebound battle 47-33. The 47 rebounds were a season high and the most since Dec. 30, 2022 against Cameron. The +14 margin in rebounding was a season high as well.
» Lubbock Christian was 55.2% (16/29) from the field in the second half and finished the game shooting 50.8% (31/61). They were 57.1% inside the arc (28/49). It marks their eighth game of the season to shoot at least 50% from the field.
» LCU improved to 11-1 all-time against TAMIU in Lubbock and 21-4 in the all-time series (all under head coach
Steve Gomez).
» The Lady Chaps improved to 9-1 at home on the season. The win was the 20
th win of the season for LCU, marking their ninth consecutive season with at least 20 wins and the 19
th for Gomez, who is in his 23
rd season at the helm of the Lady Chaps.
