The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals close out their easternmost conference road trip Sat-urday afternoon, taking a 10-game win streak to Claremore, Okla. to face Rogers State University inside Expo Center.
LCU improved to 18-5 overall and 12-1 Thursday with a 60-57 Heartland Conference win at University of Arkansas Fort Smith. The win not only extended LCU's season-long win streak to 10 games, but it keeps them alone in first place. UAFS, with an 11-3 record in conference, sits behind LCU and LCU has five games remaining. Their "magic number" to secure sole possession of first place in the conference is four.
LCU received 20 points from
Haley Burton Thursday and a double-double from
Kellyn Schneider, who had 11 points and 16 rebounds. The Lady Chaps won despite 24 turnovers, which was their highest turn-over total in a win since committing 25 in a win over St. Gregory's on Feb.4, 2010.
The Lady Chaps have a shooting percentage (47%) which ranks in the top five in NCAA Div. II and a de-fense that holds opponents to a 32.6% shooting mark, which ranks second amongst NCAA Div. II pro-grams. LCU has forced their opponents to shoot under 30% in three consecutive games.
