Midwestern State Makes Thursday Stop in Lubbock To Face LCU

Lady Chaps Hosting Midwestern State and Then It Is Six Straight On The Road

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 13, 2016) – Lubbock Christian University (10-8) returns home Thursday for a non-conference regional showdown against the Mustangs of Midwestern State University. LCU heads into the contest following a 3-1 loss to West Texas A&M University, but returns home where they have won four straight matches. They wont necessarily be unpacking their backs, as they will hit the road for a six-match road trip following the contest.

•   Heading into the matchup, the Lady Chaps hold a 27-14 all time record against the Mustangs, which dates back to 1978.
•   LCU has won four of the last five meetings including two 3-0 victories during the 2015 season.
•   Midwestern State is a member of the Lone Star Conference, where they are preseason picked 10th in the conference. The Mustangs currently hold a 3-6 Conference record and ranks eighth in Lone Star Conference standings.
•   MSU heads into this match losing five out of their last six contests. The Mustangs are 5-4 against non-conference opponents this season.
•   Megan Bettis leads the way for the Midwestern State with 186 kills, 25 aces, and 155 digs.
•   The Mustangs rank third among the Lone Star Conference in aces (103).
 
GAME NOTES
•   The Lady Chaps (10-8 overall) are 6-6 in non-conference matches and 4-3 against Lone Star Conference opponents this season.
•   LCU leads the Heartland Conference with a .126 opponent hitting percentage (13th nationally). They also lead the conference in total team blocks (132).
•   Emily Hanaway ranks third in the conference in total kills (201), total attacks (634), points per set (3.79), kills per set (3.19), and attacks per set (10.06).
•   Ariel Froeschl leads LCU with 61 total blocks on the season.
•   Mallory Powell ranks third in the conference, first among the Lady Chaps, with 636 assists on the year (9.4 assists per set ranks second). She comes off of a season high .455 attack percentage against West Texas A&M (she had a double-double to go along with six kills). Powell has received back-to-back Setter of the Week honors in the conference.
•   Kelsie French ranks 19th nationally with 5.69 digs per set, and second in the conference with 391 total digs (23rd nationally).
•   LCU 6-1 at home this season and look to continue a four-game win streak at the RIP Griffin Center this year. The Lady Chaps are 3-0 at home in non-conference competition.
