WICHITA, Kans. (October 20, 2016) – Lubbock Christian University (12-9, 5-2) travels to Wichita, Kans. Thursday for a Heartland Conference matchup against Newman University. LCU is coming off of a 3-0 win against Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Wednesday night. The Lady Chaps victory put them in third place in Heartland Conference standings. Thursday's match will be LCU's second conference contest on their current six game road trip, which makes a stop in Fort Smith, Ark. Saturday.

- This contest marks the second meeting of the season for the two squads. LCU took the previous match up with a 3-1 victory over the Jets. LCU leads the all-time series 5-4.
- Newman was picked third in Heartland Conference preseason polls. They come into the contest with a 15-8 overall record. The Jets currently sit in fourth place in Heartland Conference standings with a 4-3 conference record.
- The Jets are 4-1 at home this season, including their most recent Heartland victory against Dallas Baptist.
- Newman's offense is nothing short of stellar as they lead the conference in several different categories. They rank first in the Heartland for assists per set (12.83, 18
th nationally); Hitting percentage (.199); Kills per set (13.75, 17
th nationally); Team assists (1,039, 14
th nationally); Team kills (1,114, 17
th nationally); Aces (119); and Total team attacks (3,271,13
th nationally).
- The Jets defense has been tenacious as well, currently ranking second in the conference and seventh nationally in both digs per set (19.44) and team digs (1,575).
- Brooke Conley has been a standout for Newman as she is tabbed first in the conference in aces per set (.44), assists per set (9.82), total aces (30), and total assists (668).
GAME NOTES
- The Lady Chaps are now 5-2 in conference play, with three of those wins coming in the form of a 3-0 sweep.
- LCU's defense has held strong all season, as the squad ranks second in the conference with 158 total team blocks. They also place third in the conference with 1.95 blocks per set.

Kelsie French remains a staple for Lubbock Christian, as she has helped the defense hold their opponents to a .141 attack percentage (is second in the conference). French ranks second in the Heartland Conference and 12th nationally with 449 total digs. She is also listed 18
th in the nation with 5.54 digs per set.

Emily Hanaway is coming off of her seventh double-double of the season, third in a row, where she recorded 12 kills and 10 digs against the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State. She currently stands second in the Heartland Conference in total attacks (806). Hanaway is also listed at third in the conference in attacks per set (10.08), kills per set (3.23), points per set (3.79), and total kills (258). She also leads the Lady Chaps with 19 aces this season.
- Lubbock Christian has demonstrated their aggressiveness at the net with 969 total team kills, which ranks second in the conference.

Mallory Powell is tabbed second in the conference in assists per set (9.50) and total assists (665). She alone has provided just over 73% of the Lady Chaps 899 assists on the season.
- LCU is 5-4 all time against Newman with their last win coming earlier this season at the Rip Griffin Center.
