Lady Chaps Hosting Final Non-Conference Match

Future LSC Foes Meeting For Final Time as Non-Conference Opponents

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 30, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals continues their five-match homestand to close out the regular season Tuesday with their final non-conference match hosting West Texas A&M.  The meeting will mark the final meeting between the two programs before they are conference foes in the Lone Star Conference next season.

WEST TEXAS A&M | Tue., Oct. 30 | 7 p.m.
- Tuesday evening's tilt marks the 41st all-time matchup between the Lady Chaps and Lady Buffs. WTAMU has had the upper hand in the series with a 30-9-1 all-time series lead. The Lady Buffs won last season's lone meeting 3-0 (Oct. 24, 2017 at Rip Griffin Center), and they defeated LCU 3-1 in their previous meeting this season (Aug. 25 in Canyon, Texas). LCU has two wins in the prior 14 meetings and each have come in Canyon (Sept. 5, 2015).
- Despite having the most first place votes, West Texas A&M is preseason picked second in the Lone Star Conference. The Lady Buffs went 23-14 last season, completing play in the LSC with a 12-8 mark. This season, they are 17-10 overall with an 11-7 conference mark to set in fourth pace.
- The Lady Buffs are 6-6 in road games and 6-3 in non-conference matches this season.
- WTAMU leads the LSC and ranks 23rd nationally in digs per set with a mark of 19.04 per set.
- Selena Batiste ranks fourth nationally with five triple-doubles this season.

GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes a 19-7 record into the contest and they are 7-2 in home games this season. LCU has won their last seven home matches.
- LCU is 10-6 in non-conference play this season.
- The Lady Chaps produced 11.0 team blocks in their match Saturday, with Jaiden Kennedy leading the Lady Chaps with eight. Saturday marked the 11th time this season LCU has had at least 8.0 blocks in a match this season and they have completed the task in their last four matches.
- Serving aces has developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. LCU leads the Heartland Conference in aces per set (1.51) and total aces (134). Maddie DeGuire leads the conference in aces per set with 0.43 (58th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 69th nationally with 37 aces this season. Bradi Marshall had eight aces on Oct. 20 (vs. Dallas Baptist), marking the most by a Lady Chap in the 15 years Jennifer Lawrence has served as head coach. Since 2006, the prior single-match high for a Lady Chaps member in aces was six (done twice this season by DeGuire). The mark matched the highest total in a five-set match in NCAA Division II play this season and tied as the 10th highest single-match total in Heartland Conference history.
- Marshall leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 28th nationally with a conference-leading 10.93 assists per set, which ranks fifth nationally among all freshmen. Marshall leads the team in double-doubles this season with 13, with double-doubles in eight of 10 conference matches played.
- Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (6.0) and enters Tuesday ranking 12th nationally in the category. French is 48th nationally in total digs (504) and her career mark of 2,473 ranks third among NCAA Division II active career leaders.
- Lauren Zoller leads the Heartland Conference in kills per set (3.32) and is third in points per set (3.74).
- Ashley Vanfleet, who claimed Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors last week, leads LCU in conference play with 3.4 kills per set.
