LUBBOCK, Texas (October 5, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals continue a three-match homestand Saturday hosting St. Edward's University at noon inside Rip Griffin Center. LCU has won their last three matches at home and are riding an eight-match winning streak overall, which is their longest win streak since an 11-match win streak in 2011. The Lady Chaps are tied atop the Heartland Conference standings, as LCU and Arkansas-Fort Smith are each 3-0 atop the conference.

- LCU has won 13 of the prior 14 meetings over SEU and has a 13-5 all-time advantage in the series, which dates back to the 1989 season. LCU went 2-0 last season against SEU, sweeping the season series. They have won the prior five meetings after winning a neutral site meeting 3-1 on Oct. 6 in Carrollton, Texas.
- SEU was preseason picked fourth in the Heartland Conference. They went 16-11 last season, with a 6-6 mark in conference play.
- The Hilltoppers are 12-7 this season, with a 1-1 record in true road games (both have lasted five sets). They are coming off a 3-2 win Tuesday at Dallas Baptist. They received a 13-kill performance from Katarina Mendez, while claiming their first road win of the season.
- SEU is a defensive minded squad, ranking second nationally in digs (1,515) and 15th in blocks (158.5). It is not to say they lack offense, as they rank fourth nationally in total attacks (3,087).
- Two players in the top-10 among active career dig leaders in NCAA Div. II will face off, as SEU's Morgan Beckham is fifth in career digs with 2,112. LCU's
Kelsie French is third with 2,332 career digs. Beckham ranks 11th nationally this season with a conference leading 391 digs.
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes a 12-6 record into the contest and they are 3-2 at home this season. They are currently on an eight-match win streak, which is their best since an 11-match win streak in September of 2011. They have won 24 of their last 25 sets played.
- LCU, 1-0 in conference home matches this season after a 3-0 win Thursday over DBU, went 5-1 in home conference matches last season and are 31-6 (83.8%) all-time at home in Heartland Conference play.
- Serving aces has developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach
Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. Aces per set (1.62) and total aces (97) are the only team statistical category LCU leads in the Heartland Conference.
Maddie DeGuire leads the conference in aces per set with 0.52 (25
th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 29
th nationally with 30 aces this season.

Bradi Marshall is the reigning Heartland Conference Setter of the Week. She leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 54th nationally with 10.34 assists per set, which ranks ninth among all freshmen. Marshall leads the team in double-doubles this season with seven, with double-doubles in her prior three consecutive matches.

Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (6.0) and entered the weekend ranking 12th nationally in the category. French is 28
th nationally in total digs (361) and her career mark of 2,332 ranks second among NCAA Division II active career leaders. She is the reigning Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Kelsie French had 21 digs Thursday and moved past Victorria Martinez (2,317 digs with St. Mary's, 2011-14) and Cameron Hartson (2,317 digs with DBU, 2010-13) to third all-time in the Heartland Conference with 2,332 career digs. She needs 22 to move past Hayley Geer (2,353, 2003-06) and into second all-time in the LCU program history.
- LCU held DBU to a .050 attack mark, marking the second consecutive game in which the Lady Chaps have held their opponent to under a .100 attack mark (sixth time this season).
