LUBBOCK, Texas (October 9, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals close out a three-match homestand Tuesday hosting University of Texas of the Permian Basin at 6 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center. LCU has won their last four matches at home and are riding a nine-match winning streak overall, which is their longest win streak since an 11-match win streak in 2011. The match is a non-conference matchup against a squad which will resume being conference foes next season in the Lone Star Conference.

- The Lady Chaps and Falcons first squared off in 1995 and have met 41 times since, with LCU owning a 37-4 series advantage over the Falcons. UTPB's four back-to-back victories came during the 2005 and 2006 seasons; the Lady Chaps have won the subsequent 14 times.
- UTPB was preseason picked 11th in the Lone Star Conference. They went 4-25 last season, with a 1-19 mark in conference play.
- The Falcons are 10-9 this season (5-6 in conference), with a 2-5 record in true road games. They are seeking to end a two-match losing streak after road losses at Tarleton State and Angelo State in straight sets. UTPB won their prior two non-conference matches (5-3 against non-conference opponents), with their last coming on Sept. 7 (3-1 win over Texas A&M International).
- UTPB ranks third in the Lone Star Conference in aces per set with a mark of 1.37 per set. Skyler Friel is seventh in the LSC with a pace of .32 per set.
- Friel ranks second in the LSC and is 60
th nationally in hitting percentage, with an attack mark of .342 on the season.
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes a 13-6 record into the contest and they are 4-2 at home this season. They are currently on a nine-match win streak, which is their best since an 11-match win streak in September of 2011. LCU has won 27 of their last 28 sets played, and their nine-match active win streak is tied for the 13
th longest active streak in NCAA Div. II.
- LCU is 9-6 in non-conference play this season, with a 6-6 record in matches against non-Heartland Conference foes and a 1-1 record against LSC squads.
- Serving aces has developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach
Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. Aces per set (1.59) and total aces (100) are the only team statistical category LCU leads in the Heartland Conference.
Maddie DeGuire leads the conference in aces per set with 0.49 (27
th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 48
th nationally with 30 aces this season.

Bradi Marshall leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 50th nationally with 10.41 assists per set, which ranks ninth among all freshmen. Marshall leads the team in double-doubles this season with eight, with double-doubles in her prior four consecutive matches.

Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (6.10) and entered the week ranking 11th nationally in the category. French is 40
th nationally in total digs (384) and her career mark of 2,355 ranks second among NCAA Division II active career leaders. The Heartland Conference third-best all-time digs leader had 23 digs Saturday and moved past Hayley Geer (2,353, 2003-06) into second place on LCU's all-time career digs list.
- LCU has had some low marks recently, but the lows have led to emotional highs. LCU held St. Edward's to a .065 attack mark Saturday, marking the third consecutive game in which the Lady Chaps have held their opponent to under a .100 attack mark (seventh time this season). The last time LCU held an opponent to an attack percentage under .100 in three straight matches was was during a three-match stretch from Nov. 5 - 18, 2016. On the flip side Saturday, LCU collected their first win under head coach
Jennifer Lawrence (15th season) when producing an attack percentage less than .100, with a mark of .092 against SEU.
