LUBBOCK, Texas (November 3, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals close out the regular season Saturday at noon inside Rip Griffin Center hosting Newman for Senior Day. LCU has an opportunity to clinch sole possession of the Heartland Conference regular season title with a win. Regardless of the result, they have already clinched the top-seed and hosting privileges of the Heartland Conference Tournament, which will be played at Rip Griffin Center Nov. 9-10.

- The Lady Chaps are 9-5 against Newman in the all-time series. The two squads split the season series last season. The home team won each match, although Newman's home match was held off campus in Bel Aire, Kan. LCU has a 2-0 record in the series this season, as they defeated the Jets 3-0 on Sept. 14 in Carrollton, Texas (non-conference match) and 3-0 on Oct. 13 in Wichita, Kan.
- NU was preseason picked fifth in the Heartland Conference. They went 11-20 last season, with a 4-8 mark in conference play.
- The Jets are 2-24 this season, with an 0-8 road record. They are 1-10 in conference, with their lone win tallied against St. Edward's (Oct. 25). They are playing under the guidance of Jose Lugo, who is in his first season coaching the Jets.
- Entering the weekend with 7.6 assists per set, Reagon Roth ranks third in the conference in the category.
- It has been a tough 2018 campaign for Newman, as they rank last in the conference in 13 of the 15 team statistical categories. The only one they do not rank last in is aces per set (sixth at 1.1) and digs per set (sixth at 15.4).
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes a 20-8 record into the contest and they are 8-3 in home games this season. LCU had an eight-match home win streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to Arkansas Fort Smith. Hitting the 20-win plateau, it is LCU's ninth 20-win season under 15

- LCU is 9-2 in conference play this season. LCU has a one-match lead in the Heartland Conference standings with St. Mary's 8-3. They have locked up the No.1-seed for the Heartland Conference Tournament. St. Mary's, Arkansas Fort Smith and St. Edward's have also clinched berths into the tournament. LCU will open the tournament playing No.4-seed St. Edward's at 5 p.m. Friday Nov. 9.
- Thursday, LCU fell despite a 55-54 advantage in kills. LCU moved to 15-1 this season when producing more kills than their opponents.
- Serving aces has developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach
Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. LCU leads the Heartland Conference in aces per set (1.48) and total aces (145).
Maddie DeGuire leads the conference in aces per set with 0.41 (78
th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 61
st nationally with 39 aces this season.

- Marshall leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 23
rd nationally with a conference-leading 11.09 assists per set, which ranks fifth nationally among all freshmen. Marshall leads the team in double-doubles this season with 15, with double-doubles in nine of 11 conference matches played.

Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (5.92) and enters Saturday ranking 14th nationally in the category. French is 32
nd nationally in total digs (551) and her career mark of 2,520 ranks third among NCAA Division II active career leaders.

Lauren Zoller ranks second in the Heartland Conference in kills per set (3.28) and is third in points per set (3.67).

Ashley Vanfleet has produced at least 10 kills in the prior six matches (nine times in the 21 matches prior to the current stretch) and has walloped 47 kills in the prior two matches. Vanfleet, who has a 3.15 mark this season in kills per set, has a 3.6 kills per set rate in conference matches. The surge has her ranking fourth in the Heartland Conference in kills per set and LCU with two of the top four players in the conference in the category (
Lauren Zoller ranking second).
