Lubbock Christian University dives back into Lone Star Conference divisional play Friday hosting West Texas A&M (6 p.m.), followed with a Saturday afternoon match hosting Eastern New Mexico (2 p.m.). The games begin the second round of the home-and-home divisional contests, as LCU is 2-3 through the halfway point of their 10 division scheduled contests on the season. Division contests make up the Lone Star Conference Championships 12-team field (does not go off conference record) and LCU currently sits fourth within their six-team division. The Lady Chaps are looking to snap a two-game losing streak and build off of a 1-1 divisional home record. Friday begins a sequence in which LCU plays five of their next seven matches at home. The match with West Texas A&M also marks the first "Rivalry on the Range" rivalry series contest on LCU's campus. "Rivalry on the Range" rivalry series is a season-long competition between LCU and WTAMU involving all competitions involving the two programs. So far, WTAMU's 3-2 victory over LCU in Canyon, Texas on Sept. 21 marks the only competition this season between the two universities.
WEST TEXAS A&M | Fri., Oct. 11 | 6 p.m.
- Friday's clash marks the 43rd all-time matchup between the Lady Chaps and Lady Buffs (second as conference foes). WTAMU has had the upper hand in the series with a 29-12-1 all-time series lead. The Lady Buffs claimed a 3-2 win over LCU in the prior meeting this season in Canyon (Sept. 21). The two teams split the season series last season, with LCU winning the previous meeting 3-2 in Lubbock on Oct. 30, 2018. LCU is 5-11 at home against WTAMU.
- WTAMU went 19-13 last season, going 12-8 in LSC play. They are preseason picked fourth this season in the LSC. They are 11-3 this season, with a 2-1 division record (second in the division) and a 5-2 mark in conference. They have not lost (3-0) on the road this season (last regular season road loss was at LCU last season) and Friday opens a four-game road trip for the Lady Buffs. They had a five-match win streak snapped Saturday with a 3-1 home loss to Texas Woman's.
- The Lady Buffs defeated LCU in five sets in their prior meeting and it was one of four matches to go five sets for WTAMU, who is 4-0 in contests going five sets.
- The meeting will feature a pair of first-year head coaches meeting for the first time. While LCU is coached by
Mandy Polk, the Lady Buffs are coached by Kendra Potts, who previously served as an assistant coach for current Texas Tech head coach Tony Graystone while coaching at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and West Texas A&M.
- With 1,515 career digs, libero Chandler Vogel ranks in the top-10 in WTAMU's career digs list and she ranks 34
th among active NCAA Division II career dig leaders.
LADY CHAP NOTES
- The Lady Chaps head into the contest with an 8-8 record, looking to improve on a 5-2 home record. LCU spent their two prior games on the road, falling to UT Tyler and No.21 Texas A&M -Commerce. Their last two home games have resulted in five-set matches.
-The Lady Chaps rank second in the LSC in attacks per set (37.7), ranking 43
rd nationally. Their total attacks mark of 2,451 attack attempts ranks third in the conference (18
th nationally).
Hannah Thomas has received much of the effort, totaling 592 attacks (second in the conference) and averaging 9.9 attacks per set (ranks second in the conference). She ranks 13
th in the LSC in kills (160).
- Lubbock Christian has served up 90 aces in their 16 matches this season (third in the LSC).
Maddie DeGuire leads the team in aces with 25, which ranks tied for second in the conference and 52
nd nationally. She ranks fourth in the conference with a pace of 0.38 per set.
Bradi Marshall ranks fourth in the conference with 20 aces and
Hannah Thomas is tied for 11
th with 17.
- Marshall ranks second in the LSC in assists per set with a rate of 9.5, ranking 66
th nationally. She leads the LSC in total assists with 619 (19
th nationally). She is coming off her 27
th career double-double Saturday at TAMUC (10
th of the season).
- LCU's right-side hitter
Avery Moore has been solid for the Lady Chaps since conference play began, leading LCU with 94 kills in conference contests (fourth in conference), with a pace of 3.24 per set (eighth in conference). The right-side hitter has a .301 attack percentage in those contests. Moore ranks second in the LSC in conference attacks with 236.

Maddie DeGuire ranks second in the conference in total digs (302) and is fourth in digs per set (4.7). Her mark of 142 digs in conference play is third in the LSC (fifth with a pace of 4.9 per set in conference).

Morgan Schwarz has shown a mix of offense and defense in conference play, averaging 1.86 kills per set on a .358 attack percentage and 0.7 blocks per set (20.0 blocks in conference play). Her .358 attack percentage in conference play ranks sixth in the LSC and she ranks ninth in the LSC with 53.0 blocks overall this season.
- Freshman Haley Cournoyer has had her top producing games in the last three games she has played. She has combined for 19 kills and 13 blocks (four solo) over the past three matches.
