Lady Chaps Hosting 'Hounds, as Both Teams Hungry For a "W"

Lubbock Christian University aims to snap a three-match losing streak Saturday, as they play host to Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference divisional contest inside Rip Griffin Center. West Texas A&M swept the season divisional series Friday with a 3-0 win over LCU, placing the Lady Chaps record at 2-4 inside their division. LCU sits fourth in their six-team division, with the top four advancing to the 12-team-field Lone Star Conference Championships. ENMU is 0-4 in the division, as both teams are hungry for a win.

EASTERN NEW MEXICO | Sat., Oct. 12 | 2 p.m.
- LCU and Eastern New Mexico are meeting for the 62nd time all-time (second meeting as conference opponents). ENMU leads the all-time series with a 33-28 mark. LCU won the previous meeting 3-1 on Sept. 20 and has claimed the two prior meetings (LCU has won four of the last five encounters). LCU is 15-11 against ENMU all-time at home. The Lady Chaps have won the previous two meetings in Lubbock, with a 3-2 win on Sept. 9, 2017 marking the previous meeting in Lubbock. The prior three contests in Lubbock between the two programs have resulted in five-set decisions.
- ENMU is preseason picked to finish 12th in the Lone Star Conference. They went 9-20 overall last season, finishing eighth in the LSC with a 7-13 conference mark. This season, ENMU is 3-13, with a 0-4 record within the division and a 1-7 conference record. They are coming off a 3-0 road loss at No.21 Angelo State Friday.
- The Greyhounds rank eighth in aces per set (1.43), with Rae Sapiga and Sarah Tuioti-Mariner co-leading the squad with 14 aces. They entered the week fifth, but did not record an ace at Angelo State, marking their first ace-less match this season. Five different Greyhounds have at least 10 aces on the season. The 'hounds had one ace in the prior meeting and it was recorded by Adriana Puni, who has four on the season.
- Julie Tucker leads ENMU with 36 blocks, with nearly a third of her season totals coming in a 10-block performance (3 solo, 7 assisted) against LCU on Sept. 20. She averages 0.9 blocks per set in conference play (16th in the LSC). She entered the week in the top-10.
- Along with going without an ace Friday, the Greyhounds also did not record a block against the Belles. 

LADY CHAP NOTES
- The Lady Chaps head into the contest with an 8-9 record, looking to improve on a 5-3 home record. LCU has dropped their last three overall matches and last two divisional contests. They seek to reverse a trend, as they are 2-6 in their last eight matches. Friday they fell 3-0 to WTAMU for their first straight-set loss at home this season. A rarity, their prior straight-set loss at home was on Sept. 7, 2018 to Washburn, and their last straight-set conference loss at home was Sept. 22, 2016 against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
-The Lady Chaps rank second in the LSC in attacks per set (38.4), ranking 43rd nationally. Their total attacks mark of 2,613 attack attempts ranks third in the conference (18th nationally). Hannah Thomas has received much of the effort, totaling 621 attacks (leads the conference) and averaging 9.9 attacks per set (ranks second in the conference). She ranks 12th in the LSC in kills (169).
- Lubbock Christian has served up 92 aces in their 17 matches this season (fifth in the LSC). Maddie DeGuire leads the team in aces with 25, which ranks third in the conference and 52nd nationally. She ranks fifth in the conference with a pace of 0.37 per set. Bradi Marshall ranks tied for seventh in the conference with 20 aces and Hannah Thomas is tied for 12th with 18.
- Marshall ranks third in the LSC in assists per set with a rate of 9.6, ranking 66th nationally. She leads the LSC in total assists with 651 (19th nationally). She is coming off her 28th career double-double Friday against WTAMU (11th of the season).
- LCU's right-side hitter Avery Moore has been solid for the Lady Chaps since conference play began, leading LCU with 103 kills in conference contests (fourth in conference), with a pace of 3.22 per set (eighth in conference). The right-side hitter has a .275 attack percentage in those contests. Moore ranks second in the LSC in conference attacks with 276.
- Maddie DeGuire ranks second in the conference in total digs (325) and is third in digs per set (4.8). Her mark of 165 digs in conference play is third in the LSC (fourth with a pace of 5.2 per set in conference).
-Morgan Schwarz has shown a mix of offense and defense in conference play, averaging 1.81 kills per set on a .326 attack percentage and 0.7 blocks per set (23.0 blocks in conference play). Her .326 attack percentage in conference play ranks seventh in the LSC and she ranks tied for eighth in the LSC with 56.0 blocks overall this season.
- LCU opponents have been called for 55 ball handling errors this season (20 have been called against LCU).
