Â
HOME FINALE
Lubbock Christian will wrap up its 2019-20 home slate on Saturday with a game against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The two teams have similar records, although the Javelinas have two more wins and one less loss. The contest is important not only for Lone Star Conference standings and seeding in the league's postseason tournament, but for NCAA postseason play as well. In the first South Central Regional rankings released tis past Wednesday, TAMUK was slotted in fifth, while the Chaps were ranked ninth, with the top eight teams at the end of the season advancing to the tournament. A win over a higher-ranked opponent would improve LCU's chances in reaching the tournament for the second straight year.
Â
SENIOR DAY
With Saturday being the last home game of the season, the Chaps will take time prior to tipoff to honor the lone senior on the team,
Rashaan Proctor. Proctor has played three seasons at LCU after playing his freshman year at the New Mexico Military Academy. During those three seasons, he has played in 70 games, starting 46 times. He is a 54.9 percent career shooter, averaging 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. The Louisiana native set a career-high with 23 points last season in LCU's upset of No. 3 St. Edward's. He has scored in double-figures 22 times in his LCU career and recorded a pair of double-doubles.
Â
NO PLACE LIKE…
Saturday's matchup with Texas A&M International will be the last of 14 scheduled games at home for LCU during the 2019-20 season. They have an 10-3 record on their home court so far this season, with their last home loss coming against No. 3 West Texas A&M. LCU is averaging 81.3 points per game and holding opponents to 68.4 points per game at home this year. The Rip Griffin Center, where LCU plays its home games, was named after B.R. "Rip" Griffin, a former secretary of the LCU Board of Trustees, whose generous donation of $500,000, made possible the $4,200,000, 51,500 square foot facility. Officially dedicated on October 9, 2000, the arena seats 1,950 people for sporting events. The Chaps went 13-1 on their home court last season, and they have not posted a losing record at home since the 2006-07 season.
Â
BEYOND THE ARC
Of their 533 attempted three-pointers this season, the Chaps have made exactly 39.8 percent (212), which is the best percentage in the Lone Star Conference and ranks No. 19 nationally. LCU has averaged 8.83 three-pointers per game this season, led by
Parker Hicks, who averages 2.5 per game and leads the conference with a 42.9 percent percentage. His teammate,
Ty Caswell, would rank No. 2 nationally with a 49.1 percentage from behind the arc, but he averages just 2.26 made per game.
Â
CHARITY STRIPE
Although they have attempted the fifth-fewest free throws in the Lone Star Conference, Lubbock Christian leads the league and ranks 11th nationally in free throw percentage at 79.9 percent. The Chaps set a new Lone Star Conference record earlier this season when they went 27-27 from the free throw line in the win against No. 4 St. Edward's. Daniels leads the team and ranks No. 2 in the league with an 84.3 free throw percentage (86-102), but another five Chaps have attempted at least 15 free throws and are shooting better than 80 percent on the year.
Â
NEW-LOOK CHAPS
After losing their two leading scorers from a season ago, Lubbock Christian brought in a number of new faces to help the offense reload. So far this season, 62.7 percent (47.1 points per game) of the Chaps' scoring is coming from players who were not on the team a season ago.
Lloyd Daniels leads the group of newcomers with a team-high 16.0 points per game and is shooting .561, which is the third-best mark in the LSC. Hicks is second on the team with 12.3 points per game and set a new career-high with 23 on Thursday. Caswell averages 11.2 points per game.

FRESH OUT OF THE OVEN
