LUBBOCK, Texas (January 27, 2021) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals volleyball team completes their opening week of Lone Star Conference play facing West Texas A&M for a "Rivalry on the Range" matchup inside WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box." The match is LCU's first road game of the season and is the second of four scheduled matches between the two programs.

- Wednesday's meeting marks the 45
th all-time matchup between the Lady Chaps and Lady Buffs (fourth as conference foes). WTAMU has had the upper hand in the series with a 30-13-1 all-time series lead. The Lady Buffs swept LCU last season, winning 3-2 in Canyon (Sept. 21, 2019) and 3-0 in Lubbock (Oct. 11, 2019). LCU is 7-18-1 away from home against WTAMU. The Lady Chaps opened the season series Tuesday with a 3-1 win over WT inside Rip Griffin Center.
- WTAMU went 22-7 last season, going 14-4 in LSC play. Their 2019 season ended at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, where they fell to Angelo State. They are preseason picked fourth this season in the LSC. They went 10-3 last season at home.
- This season marked first time in 26 years in which WT did not open the campaign inside of the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box." With the loss Tuesday to LCU, WT moved to 34-7 in season openers dating back to the 1980 season, and 2-1 when they open the season in a true road match.
- WT features two-time reigning Lone Star Conference Libero of the Year Chandler Vogel, who entered her senior season with 1,827 career digs. She sits fifth on WT's career list in digs and is on pace to challenge Lauren Beville's (2009-12) all-time career mark of 2,423. Vogel has seen time in 360 sets for the Lady Buffs and tonight will mark her 100
th match to start in the back row.
- Eight members of the 15 rostered WT members are either freshman or sophomores. Toss in LCU's nine players (of 13) that are freshman or sophomores and it places 60% of the two teams combined rosters are filled with youth.
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU improved to 23-3 all-time in program history in conference openers and are 2-0 in Lone Star Conference openers.
- The Lady Chaps go from playing their NAIA rival (Wayland Baptist) to playing West Texas A&M in a pair of "Rivalry on the Range" contests. The Rivalry on the Range is a season-long point system involving games and competitions in which WT and LCU both compete in. WT won the series last season (inaugural season of the series) and host the trophy for bragging right purposes.
- LCU's
Jenna Lyons is coming off a 17-kill performance. The career-high outing topping her prior mark of 11 against South Florida (Aug. 31, 2018) as a member of A&M Corpus Christi.
- The Lady Chaps witnessed their first career double-double for freshman
Sage Post Tuesday, as she had 12 kills and 12 digs.
- LCU is preseason picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. This season marks LCU's second season as members of the Lone Star Conference. LCU was preseason picked sixth last season and finished tied for third in their division last season (5-5 in division play), taking the No.8 seed into the conference tournament. Prior to last season, LCU had been in the Heartland Conference since 2013.

th career match Tuesday, set a career-high mark in assists (42).

Kalli Dalland had another solid attack percentage Tuesday. Opening the season with seven kills and a .462 attack percentage against Wayland Baptist, she followed Tuesday with seven kills and a .313 attack percentage.
