LUBBOCK, Texas (February 10, 2021) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals closes out their two-match home series with No.7 Angelo State Wednesday with a 7 p.m. opening serve inside Rip Griffin Center.
Angelo State | Wednesday, Feb. 10 | 7 p.m. |
- LCU and Angelo State are meeting for the 28th time all-time and meeting for a fourth time as conference foes (LCU is 1-2 against the Belles as LSC opponents). Angelo State defeated LCU 3-0 Tuesday in Lubbock, which increased ASU's all-time series record to 18-9 against LCU. Despite the ASU series advantage (they had a nine-match win streak from 1980 to 1986), LCU has won seven of the past 10 meetings. Of the 27 all-time prior meetings, the two squads have only played in Lubbock seven times. ASU has won five of the seven all-time meetings in Lubbock, with LCU's wins coming Sept. 13, 2002 and Oct. 22, 2019.
- ASU, which went 29-3 last season, going 17-1 in LSC play, had their season end at the 2019 NCAA Division II South Central Region Championship Game. This season, the Belles are 5-0 on the season (conference and division play). They are preseason picked to win the LSC this season.
- ASU's Kailyn Gilbreath was named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Lindsey Ledyard received Preseason Setter of the Year honors. Gilbreath averages 3.5 kills per set (fifth in the conference) and Ledyard is third in the conference with 8.6 assists per set.
- Angelo State is averaging 40.9 attacks per set, which ranks fourth in the nation and leads the LSC.
- Tuesday, ASU had a .402 attack percentage against LCU, which was the most by an LCU opponent since opposing game-by-game records were kept on file (since 2008). It was their highest total since a walloping .519 on Oct. 11, 2019 against Eastern New Mexico.
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU enters the game with a 3-3 record overall and a 2-3 Lone Star Conference record. LCU split two-match series with West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin prior to Tuesday's loss to ASU.

Going through game-by-game records on file since 2004 (detailed game-by-game statistics are incomplete in archives prior), Sims is the only Lady Chaps member to have at least 30 digs and 30 assists in the same match. Only two players in Division II completed the task last season and she is the only player with the mark this season in Division II.
- Sims also ranks fifth in the LSC in digs with 91, behind conference leader and teammate
