Rivalry on the Range Rekindled: LCU, WT Collide in Clash of Streaking Powers

Red-Hot Lady Chaps and No. 14 Lady Buffs Meet in Battle of Lone Star Conference Streaks

CANYON, Texas (October 28, 2025) – "The Rivalry on the Range" will feature the two hottest teams in the Lone Star Conference Tuesday at 6 p.m. inside "The Box", as Lubbock Christian University, riding a 15-game win streak (includes an unblemished 11-0 conference mark), faces No.14 West Texas A&M, who rides a nine-match win streak and a 9-1 LSC mark.

LADY CHAP NOTES
» Lubbock Christian University volleyball (19-4, 11-0 LSC) enters Tuesday's play riding a 15-match win streak, its longest since a 16-match tear in 2008 (actively the fifth-longest streak in NCAA Div. II). The Lady Chaps have opened Lone Star Conference play 11-0 for their best in their NCAA era and the best since they opened Sooner Athletic Conference play 12-0 in 2009. They improved their road record to 9-1 Saturday with a 3-1 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville (in Kingsville, Texas) in LCU's first-ever road win over TAMUK. LCU has won nine straight on the road (third-best active streak). LCU is the only remaining unbeaten team in conference play (in the LSC).
 
» LCU continues to set the offensive standard in the Lone Star Conference, leading the league in both kills per set (13.99) and assists per set (13.28)—ranking No. 19 and No. 12 nationally, respectively. The Lady Chaps also rank 2nd in the LSC and No. 12 nationally in digs per set (18.69) and are one of the nation's most efficient attacks with a .228 hitting percentage (4th LSC, 56th nationally).

» Statistically dominant across the board, LCU leads the LSC in total kills (1,203), assists (1,142), digs (1,607), and total attacks (3,348)—each ranking among the top 15 nationally. The Lady Chaps also stand top 50 nationally in opponent hitting percentage (.154) and top 70 in total blocks (163.5).

» Freshman setter Camdyn Sears continues to post one of the most productive debut seasons in NCAA Division II. She leads the LSC and ranks No. 10 nationally in total assists (874), while sitting No. 22 nationally (1st LSC) in assists per set (10.40). Sears' 62-assist, 11-dig performance at UT Dallas tied the program record for a four-set match and matched the highest four-set total in Division II this season. She owns 15 double-doubles (six straight) and has directed an offense that leads the LSC in both assists and kills per set.

» Senior middle blocker Lily Bickley continues to anchor the front line and remain among the LSC's elite. She ranks 5th in the LSC (No. 75 nationally) in hitting percentage (.333) and 8th in total blocks (64) while averaging 2.92 kills per set (17th LSC) and 3.45 points per set (14th LSC). Bickley owns 14 double-figure kill matches this season and recently earned LSC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 21) after hitting .410 with 28 kills and 10 blocks.

» Libero Abby Dominguez anchors one of the nation's most effective defenses. She ranks 3rd in the LSC (No. 39 nationally) in digs per set (4.93) and 2nd in total digs (424, No. 17 nationally). Dominguez has posted eight 20+ dig matches this season and leads a back-row unit that ranks No. 12 nationally in digs per set.
 
» Middle blocker Bryleigh Schweer adds balance and toughness at the net, ranking 6th in the LSC in both hitting percentage (.317, No. 103 nationally) and total blocks (74). She's averaging 2.08 kills and 0.97 blocks per set, highlighted by a career-best 19-point performance (15 kills, six blocks, ace) at UT Dallas that matched the team lead in scoring that match.
 
» Middle blocker Bryleigh Schweer provides balance and toughness at the net, ranking 6th in the LSC in hitting percentage (.318) and 7th in total blocks (68). She's averaging 2.08 kills and 0.94 blocks per set, with a career-best 19-point performance (15 kills, six blocks, ace) at UT Dallas that earned her a share of the team lead in points in the match.
 
» Historic Honors: Following the team's two road wins last week, Camdyn Sears became the first player in Lone Star Conference history to earn both Setter of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors in the same week, while Lily Bickley was named Offensive Player of the Week—marking the first time multiple Lady Chaps have claimed LSC weekly awards in the same week.

- The "Rivalry on the Range" volleyball series will feature its 54th meeting between LCU and West Texas A&M Tuesday. The Lady Buffs lead the series with a 40-12-1 record, having won the past five meetings and eight of the last nine. LCU seeks to break an eight-match losing streak in Canyon, where they hold a 5-14 record and last won on Sept. 5, 2015.
 
- No. 14 West Texas A&M enters Tuesday's clash as one of the Lone Star Conference's hottest teams, riding a nine-match win streak and sitting 17–4 overall (9–1 LSC). The Lady Buffs are unbeaten at home (12–0) and have dropped just six total sets during their current surge. After an early-season 8-4 mark that included three close losses at the Colorado Premier Challenge, WTAMU has found its rhythm behind a balanced attack and stingy defense, climbing to second in the LSC standings behind conference unbeaten Lubbock Christian.
 
- This season marks the debut of Terry Gamble as West Texas A&M's 17th head coach and his first meeting against LCU. Gamble arrived from Blinn College, where he led the Buccaneers to five straight NJCAA National Tournaments and earned three Regional Coach of the Year honors. A 2007 NJCAA Hall of Fame inductee with over 1,100 career wins and three national titles, Gamble ranks among the most accomplished coaches in junior college volleyball history.
 
- West Texas A&M enters the matchup as one of the nation's top defensive forces, leading the Lone Star Conference and ranking No. 14 nationally in opponent hitting percentage (.133) while sitting second in the league and No. 12 nationally in blocks per set (2.52). Junior middle blocker Taytum Stow has been the anchor up front, leading the LSC and ranking No. 4 nationally in blocks per set (1.54) and No. 7 nationally in total blocks (111). She also ranks second in the league with a .418 hitting percentage, giving WTAMU one of the most efficient two-way presences in Division II volleyball.
 
- The Lady Buffs pair their defensive dominance with an efficient, balanced offense that tops the Lone Star Conference in hitting percentage (.264) and ranks among the league's top five in kills per set (13.21). Currie Marusak and Emma Becker lead the charge, ranking fourth and seventh in the LSC in kills per set at 3.54 and 3.24, respectively, while setter Bromli Watson ranks fourth in assists per set (8.72). WTAMU has hit .300 or better in six of its last nine matches during a nine-match win streak, a stretch in which it has surrendered just six total sets.
