The Lady Chaps, who are playing their opening 10 matches of the 2025 season in a nine-day stretch, enter Friday 3-3 on the season. They fell 3-0 Thursday night in their home opener, to CSU Pueblo, despite a trio of Lady Chaps with at least 10 kills. Lily Bickley led LCU with 12 kills, while Payton Murray and Camryn Blair each had 11.

LOOKING AT SWOSU
 - LCU and SWOSU are meeting for the eighth time all time and the sixth time since 2016. The Lady Chaps have a 5-2 all-time series lead after ending a two-match losing skid to SWOSU with a 3-0 win in Lubbock on Sept. 12, 2019. Four of the last five meetings have been in Lubbock, including the prior three; the latest resulting in a 3-0 LCU win on Sept. 1, 2022.

- Friday, SWOSU opened the Chap Classic with its first sweep of the season, dominating Eastern New Mexico in straight sets to place their record at 2-3. Sydnee Winfrey led with 12 kills and four blocks, Paris Patterson added 10 kills on .588 hitting, and Jada Permenter paced the defense with 16 digs.

- SWOSU enters 2025 after a historic 21-8 season that included a 13-match win streak and the program's first GAC Regular Season Championship. With nine seniors gone, the Dawgs blend seven returners with six freshmen, led by seniors Cameron Turner, Hailey Smith, and Paris Patterson. Their schedule features 11 non-conference matches—including tournaments at McKendree, Lubbock Christian, and the GAC/MIAA Crossover—before opening GAC play Sept. 23. SWOSU boasts a 34-4 home record over the past four years and ranks among national attendance leaders.

LOOKING AT FLC
 - LCU has won the last two meetings against Fort Lewis to even the all-time series, after the Skyhawks claimed the first two matchups in the 1990s. The Lady Chaps earned their first win over FLC with a 3-0 sweep in Salt Lake City on Sept. 1, 2018, and followed with a 3-1 victory in the 2022 Chap Classic (Sept. 2, 2022), the only previous meeting played in Lubbock.

- Fort Lewis makes its Chap Classic debut Friday, opening against Eastern New Mexico before facing LCU. The Skyhawks (3-1) are off to their best start since 2017 after a strong showing at the Mustang Invite, averaging 12.2 kills, 18.8 digs, 9.1 assists, and 1.9 aces per set. Senior Ella Butler leads the attack with 2.85 kills per set on a .403 hitting percentage, followed by freshman Cambria Freymuth (2.62) and junior Jordan DeJesus (2.18). Freshmen Arianna Reyna and sophomore Addie Garn combine for nearly eight assists per set, while sophomore Emery Pomroy anchors the back row with a league-best 5.21 digs per set.

- Fort Lewis volleyball begins a new era in 2025 under first-year head coach Justin Wong, blending veterans and newcomers. The Skyhawks must replace key scorers but return leaders Ella Butler and Alina Nunez, while libero Emery Pomroy anchors the defense. Transfer setter Adalyn Garn and MB Ellie Ames join a freshman-heavy class, adding depth. Averie Dembickie highlights the blocking unit. Picked 11th in the RMAC preseason poll, Fort Lewis aims to climb with contributions from new talent. MSU Denver, Colorado Mesa, and Colorado Christian headline the league favorites.
