Lady Chaps Ready To Dig Into Five-Match Homestand

LCU Opens Five-Match Home Stand Against UT Tyler After Claiming First Win In Series History Last Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 8, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University has just two homestands this season, with the second—a five-match stretch—opening Friday at 6 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center as the Lady Chaparrals host UT Tyler in a Lone Star Conference contest.

LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU returns to Rip Griffin Center to begin a season-long five-match homestand Friday against UT Tyler. The Lady Chaparrals enter the stretch 8-9 overall and 4-3 in Lone Star Conference play after splitting their Oklahoma road trip with a 3-0 win at Cameron and a 3-0 loss at Oklahoma Christian. LCU is tied with St. Edward's at 4-3 in conference play (tied for eighth) and sits behind a group led by unbeaten Angelo State.
 
- The Lady Chaps have been notably stronger at home this season. LCU is 2-1 inside Rip Griffin Center, hitting .242 while holding opponents to a .163 attack percentage. The Lady Chaps are averaging 12.64 kills, 10.45 assists, 2.27 service aces and 2.18 blocks per set at home, while opponents are averaging 11.64 kills, 10.00 assists, 1.45 aces and 2.00 blocks. LCU also owns a 25-16 advantage in service aces through its first three home matches.
 
- LCU continues to produce more efficiently in Lone Star Conference play than its overall numbers suggest. Through seven league matches, the Lady Chaps are hitting .227 while holding LSC opponents to .190. LCU has advantages of 292-283 in kills, 257-253 in assists and 45-26 in service aces in conference play while averaging 12.70 kills, 11.17 assists, 15.78 digs, 1.96 aces and 1.83 blocks per set.
 
- Camryn Blair remains LCU's leading offensive option with 159 kills and 181.5 points. Blair led the Lady Chaps with 11 kills on a .391 hitting percentage at Oklahoma Christian, giving her eight double-figure kill performances this season and 14 during her LCU career. In conference play, Blair is averaging 3.26 kills per set while hitting .274, and she has a team-high 75 kills against LSC opponents.
 
-  Hope Gonsioroski has emerged as one of LCU's most productive attackers over the last two matches. The sophomore followed a career-high 11 kills at Cameron with 10 at Oklahoma Christian, giving her the first two double-figure kill performances of her collegiate career in consecutive matches. She now has 46 kills in 19 sets overall and is averaging 2.93 kills per set in conference action.
 
- Camdyn Sears recorded her eighth double-double of the season and 31st of her LCU career at Oklahoma Christian, finishing with 25 assists and 11 digs. Sears enters the homestand with 458 assists and 163 digs while averaging 8.33 assists and 2.96 digs per set. In LSC play, she is averaging 9.00 assists per set and is hitting .343 with 24 kills against only one attack error.
 
- Freshman Kayson Reeves continues to anchor LCU at the net. Reeves has 121 kills while hitting .297 and leads the Lady Chaps with 54 total blocks. She is averaging 0.98 blocks per set overall, which ranks sixth in the LSC, and has recorded at least three total blocks in five consecutive matches. In conference play, Reeves has 54 kills, 24 blocks and is hitting .293.
 
- LCU's service game remains one of its stronger statistical areas. The Lady Chaps have 92 aces through 17 matches and average 1.67 per set. In conference play, that average increases to 1.96 per set, with LCU owning a 45-26 advantage over its league opponents. Ramsey Clark leads the team with 19 aces overall, while Leigh Jespersen has 16, Haley Wheeler has 12 and Kyla Farnan has 11.
 
- The Lady Chaps continue to see a large share of their matches decided in straight sets. Thirteen of LCU's first 17 matches have ended 3-0, with the Lady Chaps posting a 6-7 record in those decisions. LCU went 1-1 in straight-set matches during the Oklahoma trip, sweeping Cameron before being swept by Oklahoma Christian.
 
- Through 17 matches, LCU is averaging 11.67 kills, 10.44 assists, 14.76 digs, 1.67 service aces and 1.89 blocks per set while hitting .176. The Lady Chaps rank seventh in the LSC in blocks per set and eighth in aces per set. Individually, Sears ranks fifth in the conference in assists per set, Reeves ranks sixth in blocks per set and Blair ranks 10th in points per set.
 
LOOKING AT UTT
- The Lady Chaps and UT Tyler opened their all-time series during the 2019 season in Tyler, Texas, where the Patriots topped LCU 3-1 on Oct. 4, 2019. UTT leads the all-time series 6-1, winning the first six meetings. The streak was snapped in the previous meeting, as LCU claimed a 3-0 win in Tyler on Oct. 17, 2025 for their first win in the series. LCU is seeking their first win in the series at home, as they are 0-3 against the Patriots at home.
 
-  UT Tyler enters Friday's match at 13-3 overall and 4-2 in Lone Star Conference play after having a three-match winning streak snapped with a 3-1 home loss to league-leading Angelo State. The Patriots opened LSC play with road matches at Cameron and Oklahoma Christian, then won three straight against UT Dallas, St. Edward's and UT Permian Basin before the loss to Angelo State. UT Tyler has been especially strong away from home, carrying a 4-2 true-road record into Lubbock, and is 7-0 in neutral-site matches.
 
- The Patriots have been one of the LSC's most balanced teams statistically, hitting .237 while holding opponents to a conference-best .130 attack percentage. UT Tyler averages 12.86 kills, 12.11 assists, 2.02 service aces, 15.20 digs and 2.30 blocks per set. The Patriots rank second in the LSC in aces and blocks per set, fourth in hitting percentage and first in opponent hitting percentage. Their 2.30 blocks per set rank 19th nationally, while the .130 opponent attack percentage ranks 17th in NCAA Division II.
 
- UT Tyler spreads its offense across several attackers. Autumn Perry leads the Patriots at 2.90 kills per set, while Maya Jones averages 2.39, Melanie Merrill 2.36 and Sydney Atkinson 2.02. Senior middle blocker Kailey Manes has been the most efficient attacker, hitting an LSC-best .382 with 100 kills, while Makhai Lewis is hitting .205 with 51 kills and provides a major presence at the net. In conference play, Jones is averaging 2.78 kills per set, Perry 2.63 and Atkinson 2.52.
 
- The Patriots' defense is anchored by libero Anna Arceneaux and a strong blocking unit. Arceneaux has 255 digs and averages 4.55 per set overall, while Makhai Lewis leads the front row with 62 total blocks and 1.22 per set, ranking second in the LSC in blocks per set. Manes has added 48 blocks at 0.89 per set. UT Tyler has 129 total blocks compared with 76 by its opponents and has also produced 113 service aces, led by Mia Cross with 25. Against Angelo State, Lewis finished with nine kills on a .529 hitting percentage and six blocks, while Arceneaux collected 15 digs.
