Fisher sets her way to second honorWACO, Texas (October 6, 2014) – Lubbock Christian's
Erin Fisher has been recognized as the Heartland Conference Setter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The Monahans, Texas, native recorded a pair of double-doubles in the two wins against Midwestern State on October 3 and St. Edward's on October 4, dishing out 12.71 assists per set and contributing 2.86 digs per frame. The senior also added five blocks, five kills and an ace on the week. In the victory over MSU she totaled 51 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.
This season, the 5-9 setter is compiling an average of 11.55 helpers per set, the most in the Heartland and 19th best in all of NCAA Division II. Fisher has contributed in other ways for the Lady Chaps as well, collecting 151 total digs in 2014, second only to libero
Christa Daniel, as well as recording 33 kills and six service aces on the season.
This is honor number two for Fisher this season and brings her total to eight dating to 2013.
Johnson returns to actionRedshirt junior
Maddie Johnson is back on the court for LCU after sitting out last season recovering from surgery. The Frenship High School product was a Second Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference pick as a sophomore after compiling 244 kills, 369 digs and a team-best 38 service aces. In her 2014 debut, the 5-10 outside hitter totaled a career and game-high 19 kills against St. Mary's on Sept. 4 and again versus Midwestern State on Oct. 3. Johnson leads the Lady Chaps in total kills (160) and kills per set (3.64).
Coach Lawrence becomes program's winningestWith a 3-0 sweep over St. Mary's on September 4, head coach
Jennifer Lawrence became LCU volleyball's all-time leader in wins. The victory brought her to number 251 to surpass Steven McRoberts, the Lady Chap coach from 1996-2003. Lawrence now has an overall record of 261-105 and has most recently led the team to an impressive 20-6 record in the Heartland Conference since 2013.

Castleberry, Lady Chaps sweep away DustdevilsLUBBOCK, Texas (October 9, 2014) – A double-double by
Channing Castleberry directed Lubbock Christian to a three-set sweep of Texas A&M International Thursday night at the Rip Griffin Center, as the Lady Chaps started slowly but were able to dust off TAMIU by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-12.
The freshman outside hitter totaled a game-high 13 kills and 15 digs, setter
Erin Fisher led all players with 38 assists, and libero
Malori Maddox had a game-high 16 digs. The Lady Chaps (11-2, 8-1 Heartland Conference) eclipsed a .300 attack percentage for the second time on the season in the midst of tallying 49 kills to TAMIU's 29.
Set one included six lead changes and 11 ties, one of which occurred on a rare set by middle blocker

Abby White gave LCU the final lead change of the set at 22-21 on a well-placed attack that landed between three sprawling defenders. Two final kills by
Samantha Matthews and Edwards awarded the set to the Lady Chaps.
A kill by Dustdevil Tazmin Apple brought the second set to a 10-10 tie before LCU went on a scoring tear, including five Johnson kills, three of which were sequential, to propel the Lady Chaps to a 19-11 advantage. The Dustdevils (1-14, 1-7 Heartland Conference) went on a mini-run of their own, closing to within 21-16, but LCU was able to hold TAMIU to three more points and finished off the set with an Edwards' tip that floated over two blockers.
The Lady Chaps took control in set three, creeping out to a 10-6 lead on a Matthews' kill. The freshman middle blocker then teamed up with
Christiana Tavo for a block on Dustdevil Alex Ciszek which preceded two TAMIU attack errors and a Fisher service ace for a 15-6 LCU lead. The Lady Chaps quickly extended the lead to 23-10 and the match was ultimately terminated on a Dustdevil service error.
For TAMIU, Miaje Hubbard tallied 12 kills, and Lizzie Prieto had 27 assists.
