Lady Chaps Look To Remain Hot at Home

LCU Seeks First Home Win Over WT Since 1979

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 24, 2017) – Lubbock Christian University, coming off the heels of a 3-2 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith, which ended the Lions 43-match conference win streak, looks to keep their hot play at home rolling Tuesday, hosting West Texas A&M for a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center. The Lady Chaps are riding a five-match win streak at home and have won five of their last seven matches overall.

•   Heading into this matchup, the Lady Buffs hold a 28-9-1 all time record against the Lady Chaps, winning the prior meeting 3-1 on Oct. 11, 2016 in Canyon, Texas. WTAMU's previous meeting in Lubbock resulted in a 3-1 win by WTAMU on Oct. 24, 2014. The last time LCU defeated WTAMU in Lubbock was on Sept. 18, 1979.
•   The Lady Buffs, who are 3-3 against Heartland Conference teams this season, were preseason picked fifth in the Lone Star Conference. WTAMU, 7-4 in non-conference play, is 8-6 in the LSC and in fifth place.
•   WTAMU is ranked 30th nationally in team kills with 1,146 and one of three LSC teams ranked in the top-30 nationally in the category.
•   They are 2-5 on the road this season and coming in off a 3-1 win at Cameron to push their overall win streak to two matches. WTAMU has won four of their last five matches.
•   Selena Batiste is one of 33 players nationally and one of two LSC players to record a triple-double on the season.
•   Crystal Thomas ranks 31st nationally in blocks with 91 on the season and is three off LSC leader Shelley Chapron (Texas A&M Commerce).
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU is 3-10 against non-conference foes this season and 2-4 against LSC squads this season (1-1 at home).
• The Lady Chaps rank 56th in digs per set (17.7), with Kelsie French ranking 10th individually with 6.1 digs per set. She is 19th nationally in total digs with 479.
• Freshman Brynn Warnack has moved into fourth in the Heartland Conference in assists per set with a mark of 7.09 per set.
• Of LCU's 21 matches, they have only won the opening set five times.  They are 5-0 this season when winning the opening set (3-13 when losing the opening set). LCU has won the opening set in three of their prior four home matches.
• With 12 kills Saturday in LCU's 3-2 win over Arkansas - Forth Smith, Lauren Zoller has  posted at least 10 kills in three consecutive matches, which is a season high streak for the outside hitter.
Channing Stewart produced 22 kills Saturday over Arkansas – Fort Smith for her fourth consecutive match with at least 10 kills.  She did not have a match in double figures in kills this season prior to the current four-match stretch. Stewart received 67 kill attempts in the match Saturay, which is the most in her LCU career and the most attempts by a Lady Chap since Kacey Deterding received 68 attempts on Nov. 7, 2013.
