LCU Seeks Second Win Verses Ranked Teams Since 2013

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 16, 2017) – Lubbock Christian University plays their second match of an eight-match road trip, playing their only neutral site match of the trip Saturday (3 p.m. opening serve) in Canyon, Texas facing No.6 University of Nebraska – Kearney. LCU is 1-0 on the trip following a 3-1 win Tuesday at Texas Permian Basin.

• The Lady Chaps and Lopers have never faced each other. LCU is 8-6 all-time against Nebraska based programs.
• The Lopers are preseason picked to win the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). They are coming off a 35-2 mark last season, going 17-1 in MIAA play. They won the MIAA Tournament, but fell to Augustana in the opening round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
• Since dropping a 3-2 decision in Hawaii on Sept. 3 to Lewis, the Lopers have gone 5-0 with 15 straight set wins to place their record at 8-1.
• UNK ranks 20th nationally in opponent's hitting percentage, holding opponents to a .111 attack percentage.
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU is 1-2 in neutral site games this season.  The lone win was a 1-0 neutral site win to open the season in Portland, Ore. against Westminster. LCU is 1-4 against ranked teams since playing a NCAA Division II schedule in 2013. The one win came on Sept. 7, 2015 against West Texas A&M. LCU, 0-3 against top-10 teams since 2013, last played a ranked opponent on Sept. 10, 2016 (Central Oklahoma).
• The Lady Chaps are ranking 28th nationally in digs per set (18.0), with Kelsie French ranking 24th individually with 5.7 digs per set. French is coming off All-Tournament honors at the Chap Classic, averaging 5.4 digs per set in the four matches of the Chap Classic. She is 18th nationally in total digs with 188.
• Since Friday evening's program low attack mark of -.092 (worst single-game mark on file), LCU has bounced back with their best marks of the season. Saturday, LCU produced a mark of .210 and Tuesday, they improved the mark to .228.
• LCU's Emily Hanaway engineered a season high 19 kills Tuesday at Texas Permian Basin, which ranked tied for the second most in her LCU career. She had a .341 attack percentage, which is her best in matches she produced at least 15 kills.
• Setter Cory Jo Martin had a season-high mark of 41 assists (second highest in her career) Tuesday for her third career game of over 40 assists. She completed her second career double-double assing 10 digs.
• LCU opponents have over twice as many serving errors than aces, with a mark of 35 aces and 74 errors. Opponents have combined for 41 serving errors over the prior four matches.
