LADY CHAP NOTES
» Lubbock Christian sits at 6–4 overall following a grueling stretch of 10 matches in nine days to open the 2025 campaign. The Lady Chaps enter Lone Star Conference Crossover play on a two-match winning streak, having swept Eastern New Mexico and avenged an earlier loss to CSU Pueblo.
» LCU ranks No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the LSC in total kills (495) and total digs (676), underscoring their high-volume, scrappy style of play. They also sit third in the LSC in kills per set (13.38) and second in digs per set (18.27).
» LCU is No. 27 nationally and No. 3 in the LSC in assists per set (12.59), paced by setter
Camdyn Sears.
» They are No. 12 nationally in total attacks (1,479) and rank in the LSC's top three in attacks per set.
» Defensively, LCU holds opponents to a .173 hitting percentage, ranking No. 9 in the LSC.
»
Lily Bickley – Leads the team with 97 kills (2.83/set), hitting .291 (14th in LSC). She has reached double-digit kills in six matches, including five straight. Bickley also ranks top-five in the LSC for total blocks (26). She is 89 kills away from claiming her 1,000
th career kill. LCU has not had a player with at least 1,000 career kills since Maddie Johnson and Kasey Deterding each reached the mark in the 2015 season. Bickley, who ranks 35
th among active Division II players in career kills, would mark the third 1,000-kill producer for LCU since the current rally scoring format started in 2008.
»
Payton Murray &
Emilee Sikora – Provide balance on the pins. Murray is 11th in the LSC in total kills (86), averaging 9.24 attacks per set (No. 6 in LSC). Sikora follows closely with 82 kills and has already posted four double-digit kill outings.
»
Bryleigh Schweer – Second on the team in hitting percentage (.277), she has added 19 blocks to rank among the LSC's top 15.
»
Camdyn Sears – Quarterbacks the offense with 299 total assists (No. 14 nationally, No. 2 in LSC). She averages 8.54 assists per set, while also adding 100 digs, 15 kills, and 5 aces. Sears, a LSC Freshman of the Week recipient, also has five double-doubles on the season.
»
Abby Dominguez – The libero anchors the back row with 179 digs (No. 8 nationally, No. 1 in LSC). She averages 4.84 digs per set (No. 4 in LSC), highlighted by three 20+ dig performances, including 24 vs. ENMU, as she has hit the mark in consecutive matches.
» LCU's balanced offense has already seen six different players record double-digit kills in a match (Bickley,
Tatum Fleitman, Murray, Sikora,
Camryn Blair, Schweer) this season.
» The Lady Chaps have thrived in long rallies, ranking among the top three in the LSC in total attacks and digs. Of their 10 matches this season, three have gone the five-set distance, where they are 1-2 in those decisions.
» Sophomore
Camryn Blair emerged in the home finale of the MCM Elegante Chap Classic, posting a career-high 18 kills in the win over CSU Pueblo.
» LCU recorded nine aces Saturday vs. ENMU, tied for their ninth-most in a three-set match since 2008. Dominguez leads the team with eight on the season.
» LCU wraps up non-conference action at the Lone Star Conference Crossover in Oklahoma City, facing UT Permian Basin (Sept. 19) and Oklahoma Christian (Sept. 20) before beginning full Lone Star Conference play. This season marks the fourth season in the LSC for the LSC Crossover (it is a conference-organized event to fill schedules). LCU is 1-7 all-time in the crossover. In 2022, LCU was 0-3 in San Angelo, Texas, 1-3 at home in 2023 (serving as a host of the event) and 0-2 last season in Laredo, Texas. LCU is 0-2 all-time against UTPB and 1-0 against OC in LSC Crossover meetings.
LOOKING AT UTPB
- The Lady Chaps and Falcons first squared off in 1995 and have met 53 times since (54 total meetings), with LCU owning a 43-11 series advantage over the Falcons. LCU, winners of three of the prior four meetings, had won 15 consecutive matches prior to 2019, but UTPB has won seven of the last 12 meetings. The Lady Chaps and UTPB are meeting for a third time since 2016 in a neutral site location and for a second consecutive season, as LCU fell 3-0 in Laredo, Texas against UTPB in last season's LSC Crossover match (Sept. 20, 2025). The two programs are former Heartland Conference foes and LCU was 6-0 all-time in Heartland action against the Falcons.
- UT Permian Basin enters the LSC Crossover at 2–6 overall, with both wins coming on neutral courts against Arkansas–Monticello and Azusa Pacific. The Falcons have yet to play a home match and recently went 1-3 last weekend at the Biola/Vanguard Kick-Off Tournament in California.
- The Falcons rank among the top-half of the LSC in team digs (504, 3rd) and service aces (52, 4th), showing defensive grit and aggressive serving. However, UTPB has struggled in efficiency, ranking 13th in the conference in hitting percentage (.156) and 12th in kills per set (11.45). The Falcons are also winless in true road matches (0–2) and seek their first victory away from neutral ground Thursday night facing event host Oklahoma Christian.
- Sophomore outside hitter Nickilah Whatley leads the attack with 79 kills (2.82 per set) while ranking top-20 in the LSC in total attacks (234). Setter Kierra Freeman fuels the offense with 194 assists (7.19 per set, 4th in LSC) and adds 12 service aces. Defensively, libero Isabel Rodriguez anchors the back row with 118 digs (3.93 per set), ranking seventh in the league in total digs.
- UTPB will serve as one of five LSC teams without a home match played this season following the LSC Crossover.
