Freshman Guides Lady Chaps to Four-Match Win Streak with Weekend Dominance

RICHARDSON, Texas (September 23, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University's Camdyn Sears has been named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Lubbock Christian extended its win streak to four with a 2–0 showing at the Lone Star Conference Crossover in Oklahoma City, defeating UT Permian Basin 3–1 and sweeping Oklahoma Christian 3–0. The Lady Chaps (8–4) hit .455 against OC, their best mark in 15 years, behind Emilee Sikora's 15 kills and Camdyn Sears' 43 assists. Lily Bickley, Bryleigh Schweer, and Payton Murray also powered a balanced attack across the weekend.

Freshman setter Camdyn Sears continued her standout debut season by steering Lubbock Christian's offense to historic efficiency at the Lone Star Conference Crossover. She handed out 88 assists in just seven sets (12.57/set), the top assist average and total in the LSC for the week. Sears posted back-to-back elite matches, dishing out 45 assists with 11 digs in a four-set win over UT Permian Basin and following with 43 assists, nine digs, and five kills on .625 hitting in a sweep of Oklahoma Christian. Her 43-assist outing marked the seventh-most in a three-set match in program history (under the current rally scoring era since 2008) and the most by a Lady Chap since 2014 (in a three-set match). For the week, the Midland, Texas native also contributed 17 digs, four blocks, and seven points while running an offense that hit .377 as a team, capped by a .455 mark against OC — LCU's best single-match hitting percentage in 15 years.

Sears has claimed LCU's only LSC weekly accolades this season, as she claimed Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 9. This is her first career Setter of the Week honor and the first since Kayton Genenbacher claimed her third career Setter of the Week award and first of the 2024 season on Oct. 21, 2024.

LCU heads into Lone Star Conference play Friday at 6 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center as they open hosting Sul Ross State. The homestand closes Saturday at 2 p.m. hosting Western New Mexico.
