LUBBOCK, Texas (February 3, 2026) - No. 20 Lubbock Christian University delivered one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season Tuesday night, cruising past Midwestern State 89–69 inside Rip Griffin Center in Lone Star Conference play.
The Lady Chaps (17–4, 9–3 LSC) shot 58.8 percent from the field and never trailed, building a 42–30 halftime advantage before pulling away with a decisive third-quarter surge.
Kennedy Chappell led the way with 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line, recording her eighth 20-point game of the season and ninth of her career. Chappell scored 12 points in the first half and added nine more after the break.
LCU opened the night with a 24-point first quarter, scoring on its first possession and shooting 72.7 percent in the period. The Lady Chaps followed with an 18–13 edge in the second quarter, then seized control coming out of halftime with a 15–4 run to open the third, pushing the margin to 20. Lubbock Christian carried a 70–51 lead into the fourth quarter and maintained steady separation the rest of the way.
Meg Meekins produced a well-rounded performance with 13 points, six rebounds and five assists, while
Tia Johnson added 10 points and a career-high three blocks.
Raegan Lee chipped in five points on a perfect 2-for-2 shooting night, and
Taylor Allen scored nine points off the bench. Fourteen Lady Chaps saw action, and LCU held a 35–27 advantage in bench scoring.
Midwestern State (5–13, 2–10 LSC) was led by Kerbie Cash, who finished with a game-high 25 points and five rebounds. Katy Greathouse added 15 points, while Veonce Powell contributed 10. The Mustangs shot 39.3 percent from the floor and 27.8 percent from three-point range, but struggled to keep pace with LCU's efficiency, particularly during the middle quarters.
Lubbock Christian also turned defense into offense, outscoring MSU 26–18 in points off turnovers and owning a 44–24 edge in points in the paint. The victory marked LCU's 13th consecutive win over Midwestern State and improved the Lady Chaps to 7–1 at home this season.

Lubbock Christian began the first quarter with a strong offensive showing, quickly gaining an early lead.
Tia Johnson contributed the first points with a layup 11 seconds in and added two free throws shortly thereafter.
Kennedy Chappell was effective in the paint, making several layups and free throws to help maintain their advantage.
Taylor Allen and
Meg Meekins each drained three-pointers (Allen's trey was part of a 7-0 run), extending the lead. Despite MSU's efforts, including a fast break layup by Veonce Powell at 4:14, the Chaps finished the quarter ahead, 24-17. Chappell (8 points) and Allen (5 points) paced LCU's offense in the opening frame.
The Lady Chaps maintained their momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 18-13.
Tia Johnson opened the quarter with a jumper 10 seconds into the period, assisted by Chappell, setting the tone for the home team. Chappell contributed significantly with a three-pointer at 6:56, followed by a free throw at 1:17.
Meg Meekins was active on both ends, recording a defensive rebound early in the quarter and later scoring a layup with 14 seconds remaining to close the quarter. Despite MSU's efforts, including a three-pointer from Veonce Powell at 4:00, they struggled with shooting efficiency, making only four out of 16 field goal attempts. Meekins had seven points and three rebounds in the period to lead the LCU efforts in the frame. She had 10 points in the first half and joined Chappell in double figures in the half, as Chappell led all players at the break with 12 points.
Lubbock Christian extended their lead in the third quarter with notable contributions from multiple players.
Raegan Lee sparked the quarter with a three-pointer in the opening minute, assisted by Meekins. Chappell followed with back-to-back layups, including a three-point play at 6:55. MSU responded with a layup from DaLonna Choice, but the Lady Chaps maintained control and continued what would be a 15-4 run over the opening 4:31 of the second half. The quarter concluded with Lubbock Christian leading 70-51, despite a late three-pointer from MSU's Carisa Cortez. Chappell and Lee each had five points in the period for LCU.
The Chaparrals secured a decisive win over the Mustangs, concluding the game with a 19-18 edge in the fourth quarter.

Kimber Mathews added a three-pointer at 3:53, pushing the home team's lead further. The quarter concluded with
Ally Ihler making two free throws, cementing the Lady Chaps victory. Fourteen (14) players saw playing time in the quarter for LCU, who received four points each from Chappell and Mathews. Chappell had nine points in the half. LCU had a 21-5 scoring advantage in the half in points-off-turnovers.

» LCU had its largest offensive night (89 points) since a 96-point output on Nov. 6, 2022 (against Missouri Western) and did it off a 58.8% (30/51) shooting night, as the 58.8% shooting marked their best shooting night since Jan. 12, 2023 (vs. Eastern New Mexico). The Lady Chaps never shot worse than 52.6% (third quarter) in a single quarter, and shot 72.7% in the opening frame (8/11). The offensive display led to a 20-point win margin, as LCU (defeated Cameron 73-47 Saturday) has consecutive games with a 20+ win margin for the first time this season.
» LCU entered the contest averaging 13.3 turnovers per game but matched that figure in the opening half alone, committing 13 giveaways. The Lady Chaps settled in after the break, finishing with 20 turnovers for the game while forcing 19 on the other end, and still turned miscues into a plus by outscoring Midwestern State 26–18 in points off turnovers.
