Lubbock Christian University completes their opening weekend of Heartland Conference play Saturday at 1 p.m. hosting St. Mary's University inside Rip Griffin Center.

The Lady Chaps have a tough start to their 2014-2015 conference campaign, going from facing last sea-son's regular season conference champions, Texas A&M International, to hosting St. Mary's, who holds the best overall record of a conference squad this season (along with St. Edward's). So far so good, as Thursday, LCU defeated TAMIU 87-68. LCU's Kellyn Schneider produced her first double-double with LCU, posting 14 rebounds and 12 points. The Lady Chaps knocked down 13 three-pointers and pro-duced 59 rebounds in the win. The rebound mark was three shy of matching the Rip Griffin Center record.

LCU, 21-0 all-time in Heartland Conference play, improved to 7-3 overall on the season with Thursday's victory and opened the conference slate with a 1-0 mark. LCU enters Saturday's play with four players averaging double figures offensively. Haley Fowler leads the squad averaging 13.7 points per game. She is 56.6% (56/99) from the field this season and has had at least 10 points in nine of LCU's 10 games this season. The Lady Chaps are 4-1 at home this season and they have a 24-game conference winning streak alive.

The game is LCU's final game of the 2014 calendar year. LCU is 23-3 in games played in 2014 (they went 26-5 during the 2013 calendar year). Following Saturday's contest, LCU will not play until hosting former Sooner Athletic Conference rival Oklahoma City University on January 1, 2015 for a non-conference clash.

ABOUT StMU
The Rattlers join St. Edward's with the best overall record, as they are each 7-2. St. Mary's opened con-ference play Thursday with a 74-65 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University on the road for a 1-0 conference start. Morgan Pullins helped StMU claim their fifth consecutive win with a 26-point and 11-rebound double-double in the win. The Rattlers won despite 23 turnovers. They lead the conference hold-ing opponents to an average of 59.2 points per game. They are led by Pullins, a three-time conference Player of the Week, who averages 21.8 points and 10 9 rebounds per game.
