Britton spent the 2007 and 2008 season with the Chaps baseball team under head coach Nathan Blackwood before embarking into a professional baseball career spanning nine seasons.

At LCU, Britton was a two-time Preseason NAIA All-American and claimed postseason honors in 2007. Britton combined for a .383 batting average at LCU with 18 home runs, 99 runs-batted-in, 164 hits and seven triples in 111 games. He started in all 111 games the Chaps played over the two seasons.

In 2007, Britton led LCU with a .401 average and 83 hits. He followed in 2008 hitting .365 with nine homers and 44 runs-batted-in.  Primarily used as a lead-off batter, the Chap second baseman was second on the club in hits (81) in 2008 and was able to reach base as a lead-off batter 48.4% of the time.  In the field, Britton was a 2008 Rawlings Gold Glove recipient after a 97.3% fielding percentage.  He committed six errors on the season and he broke a school record for consecutive games with an assist (30), which had previously been held by Gary Hix and Randy Velarde.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted him in the 35th round (1,046th selection) of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft. Britton was in the Orioles system for seven seasons. He signed free-agent agreements with the Dodgers (2015) and the Twins (2016) before retiring from the diamond. His professional career numbers include hitting .270 with 786 hits, 59 home runs, 153 doubles and 407 RBI in 827 career games. He never received an official call to the "big leagues," but did play 73 games in Spring Training with Baltimore (2011-2014), Los Angeles (2015) and Minnesota (2016). He hit a career .280 in Spring Training, hitting .375 with two home runs in 14 games in 2015 with the Dodgers.

After retiring from Major League Baseball, Buck went into the coaching ranks, returning to the Orioles organization. He spent the entire 2018 season as the manager of the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds, leading them to a 68-66 record. He then was promoted to the Class AA Bowie Baysox for the 2019 season. With the Baysox, he led a worst-to-first comeback in the second half of the season, coaching the team all the way to the Eastern League Championship series before they lost to Harrisburg. Britton was named the league's Manager of the Year for his performance.

Prior to joining the Chaps, the infielder played junior college baseball at Lon Morris College and NCAA Division I baseball at Stephen F. Austin. He prepped at Canyon High School (Canyon, Calif.) and Weatherford High School (Weatherford, Texas) before college. Buck comes from a baseball family, as he is the younger brother of Clay Britton, who played baseball at LCU in 2007, and the older brother of Zach Britton, a two-time Major League All-Star pitcher for Baltimore.
