Hall of Honor
Riddle had an incredible four-year career with the Chaparral baseball team as a rare two-way player whose fielding position was behind the plate.
His career on the mound was the most impressive, as he is the all-time Chap leader in wins (39) and strikeouts (310). He pitched 328.2 innings (2nd-most in LCU history) in 73 appearances (4th-most) with 21 complete games (tied for 9th-most).
Coming to LCU from Kerville-Tivy High School, Riddle made an impact right away as a freshman. He appeared in 14 games on the mound, including seven starts, posting a 4.69 ERA (2nd-lowest on the staff) in 63.1 innings pitched as the Chaps captured their second Sooner Athletic Conference Title. He also contributed at the plate with a .255 batting average (12 RBI) in 55 at-bats.
As a junior, he was named to the All-Sooner Athletic team as a pitcher and earned his first All-America (Second Team) honor as Lubbock Christian captured its third Sooner Athletic Conference Title in five years. That season he went 13-3 on the mound in 26 appearances (17 starts) with a 3.76 ERA in 102.1 innings pitched. He struck out 74 batters and held opponents to a .257 average while hitting .233 himself in 60 at-bats.
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named Riddle a Preseason All-American in 2001 and followed through, earning Second Team honors once again. Focusing solely on pitching, Riddle pitched 112.0 innings in 24 appearances (19 starts). He posted a 3.54 ERA in that time, striking out 124 batters while walking just 19. The Chaps went 21-7 in league play during his senior season but could not capture another SAC crown. In the Region IV tournament, they made it to the final against host Dallas Baptist but lost a heartbreaker, 7-6, and finished No. 14 in the final poll of the season.
Riddle was inducted to the LCU Athletic Hall of Honor in 2008, along with former teammate Keith Hart and Kerry Richardson.
