Darla (Lynch) Jameson was the first star of the Lubbock Christian women's basketball team, playing for the Lady Chaps from 1979 to 1983 and leaving with nearly every school record in the book.

Jameson scored 1,529 points in her career, leaving as LCC's first-ever all-time leading scorer. Her overall record has since been passed several times, but her career scoring average of 15.4 points per game is still the fourth-best mark in program history. When she graduated, Jameson also held the school records for most field goals made (588), field goal percentage (.426), free throws made (355), rebounds (838) and blocked shots (64). She is still the school record-holder in field goal attempts with 1,381.

A native of Phillips, Texas, Jameson said she chose Lubbock Christian because so many people who had influenced her life had gone or were going to LCC, so she knew there must be something special about the school. She had been the captain of her high school basketball team and a regional qualifier in the shot put, among many other positions.

Jameson was the best player on the team right away, leading the the team in scoring with 423 points on the year (17.6 per game) in 24 games that year. She also led the team in rebounds with 192, including an incredible 88 on the offensive glass. In the first LCC women's basketball game ever (11/28/79), she scored 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds. The Lady Chaps made the Texas Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Division III Tournament beating Austin College in the first round before losing in the semifinals. Jameson was recognized on the All-Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association (TIAA) Second Team and also selected to the AIAW All-Region V First Team.

She repeated on both the All-TIAA Team and All-Region V First team as a sophomore and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Lady Chap team. She shot 43.7 percent from the field, averaging 16.6 points per game. Jameson also dramatically upped her rebound total to 278 for an average of 9.9 per game, leaving her just short of averaging a double-double. Lubbock Christian hosted the Texas AIAW Division III Tournament that year and the Lady Chaps took on Austin College in the first round again, but they were eliminated this time.

LCC began competing in the NAIA's District VIII for the 1981-82 season, with Jameson making the All-District First Team as a junior. She scored 448 points during the year, pulling down 265 rebounds (9.1 per game), including a career-high 105 on the offensive glass. Lubbock Christian made the District VIII Tournament, but lost in the first round to host Midwestern State.

Jameson's scoring production dropped off in her senior season, but only because the Lady Chaps had more offensive weapons, with five LCC players scoring at least 100 points in the 17 games. She was still the team's leading scorer though with 192 points (11.3 per game) and had her best single-season shooting percentage mark at .638. She also pulled down 6.1 rebounds per game. For the first time in her career she was not named to an All-District or All-Region team, although she did make the TIAA All-Academic Team in her senior year.

In 98 career games, Jameson finished in double figures 82 times and scored at least 20 points in 28 of those games. She was inducted into the LCU Athletic Hall of Honor in 1995.
