Suiting up in 118 games, the Dallas, Texas native produced 1,835 career points. He was a two-time NAIA All-American, marking one of four Chaps to ever receive the honor in multiple years and one of two Chaps (joining Max Eding) to ever claim Second Team honors in the category (2010/2011 season).

Hewitt averaged 8.6 points per game as a freshman and then went on to average a career single-season best 19.7 points per game as a sophomore. He followed averaging 16.6 points per game his junior season and 17.5 points per game his senior season to average 15.6 points per game in his LCU career. Hewitt ranks second in program history in field goal attempts (1,360), third in field goals (613) and three point attempts (561). He also ranks third in free-throw attempts (539), free-throws made (412) and fifth in three-pointers made (197).

The three-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection embarked on a pro career following his college career, playing two seasons with the Dallas Impact of the American Basketball Association (ABA) after a summer spent in Las Vegas, Nev. competing in the Eurobasket Summer League. Hewitt was a SouthWest Division All-Star in 2013 with the Impact. Prior to LCU, Hewitt played basketball at North Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas, where he was a two-time All-District selection and was awarded the school's "Mr. Stallion" honor. He continues to live in the Dallas area, working in marketing and distribution for Primerica.
