In addition to serving as a professor in the history department from 1967 to 1988, Mr. Perrin also served as LCC's basketball coach from 1959 to 1967. He posted an overall record of 132-121 during those seasons.

Perrin took over the program in just its third year of existence, when LCC was still a junior college and still used the Pioneers as their mascot. He led the team to a 12-11 record in his first season at the helm, but really saw improvement in the 1960-61 season when LCC went 21-13. Perrin had just one more winning season in 1966 (18-11) and finished coaching in 1967.

In 1962, in response to a request by a group of students who "simply wanted to play ball," Mr. Perrin agreed to be the sponsor and coach of LCC's first baseball team. He held that post he held for five years before the university suspended the program. Larry Hays started it up again in 1971, when LCC became a four year school.
