Hall of Honor
Mike Williams came to Lubbock Christian by way of Odessa College, where he was on the Dean's List and graduated Summa Cum Laude, to run for LCC Track/Cross Country Coach David Conder.Â
While on the cross country and track teams from 1983 to 1986, Williams was twice an NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Meet qualifier as apart of the two-mile relay. With his relay teammates Kenrick Williams, Alex Torrez and John Ruiz in 1985, he helped set a school record in the event with a time of 7:28.43.
Mike Williams was also competed in the 800-meter individually, posting a career-best time of 1:53.6 in the event. He was the school's first-ever Academic All-American in 1986 when he earned the honor with a 3.90 GPA in Bible.Â
On the cross-country side, Williams was a part of the Chaparral's second-ever District VIII Championship in 1984, after which the team placed 29th at the National Championships. He was also apart of the 1985 District VIII Co-Champion Chaps, who placed 21st at the National Championships.Â
He was inducted into the Lubbock Christian Athletics Hall of Honor in 1990.Â
