Guyle Roberson, a 1983 Lubbock Christian College graduate, is the only athlete in the LCU Hall of Honor inducted for performance on the gridiron.

Roberson was a four-year letterman for LCC's short-lived stint on the football field, playing for the Chaps from 1979 to 1983. He became the program's first and only All-American in that sport, garnering that selection in 1982 as an offensive tackle.

Coming to Lubbock by way of Amherst in 1979, Roberson came to LCC because he knew he could play as a freshman. He did, playing in the very first LCC football game ever in 1979. As a senior in 1982, he also played in the very last LCC football game ever, as they cut the program following that year.

He enrolled at Lubbock Christian an enormous 6"7, 330 pounds and was played on the defensive line, but moved to offensive tackle later and as a senior had his weight down to just 265.

The Chaps' existence on the football field was not a particularly pleasant one, with many losses and very few wins. In Roberson's All-American season, LCC was 0-10. Leading the offensive line, he did help them record 753 rushing yards and 1685 passing yards.

Roberson stayed in the Lubbock area after graduation. He was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 1990.
