Hall of Honor
Manuel Garcia was a three-time NAIA All-American, running an important leg in Lubbock Christian relays from 1986 to 1990.Â
A Lubbock High graduate, Garcia was a strong prospect for the Chaps after winning district in the 800-meter twice in high school.
He made an impact right away at Lubbock Christian, earning All-America honors during both indoor (mile relay) and outdoor (1600-meter relay) seasons in 1987. The mile relay team ran a time of 3:22.99 to finish third in Kansas City, Missouri. As a team, the men finished 15th overall at the NAIA Indoor National Meet.
In 1988, Garcia repeated on the All-America team with the mile relay team at the NAIA Indoor National Meet, but failed to do so during outdoor season.Â
Garcia was not apart of the indoor mile relay during the 1989 season, but he did earn All-District honors as an individual in the 800-meter, which he finished with a time of 1:54.10.
He was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 2000.Â
